yeah, the idea seems so straight forward it would be hard to mess it up - connect switch dimmer leads to green and green/white wires coming from a switch on your dash. i don't know.

He reposted the same process here in a thread on TW somewhere. It’s a real nice walkthrough on DIY Bussman.

Time to actually install the light bar now. I only had time for the harness and switch last weekend. I will return to the dimmer issue on another day.

Diy light bar mount. Steel strapping from Home Depot. I made spacers out of 3/4 inch copper pipe. Might be a better spacer idea. But I had pipe and a cutter on my bench. And it worked well.

Bump for question. So I was going to wire up my led light bar switch as described in this post (add-a-fusse and splice into dash power for switch illumination). But got me thinking , can’t i just “splice” into a nearby switch (auto high beam switch) for all three wires. The main power (green wire on led switch), then dash light power and ground (red2 and black) ? 6nW3HicXL5XzKbvemxLboR0QT-AkYslCvTnK2XXv_d17ce5bac6a461136b720b8dd6bafa11ebdbc993.jpg 19p0YN1IvelKuyDW6duuZ69rdUL2YuCII0lTgoBq_14a4d58e2d3aeec798f13a560f4f9d554bea7795.jpg
If the stock switch (auto high beam switch) has a main power with fuse obviously, and power/ground for illumination why not just piggy back off these three ? Obviously the remote wire for the LED light bar relay is independent of this , and has already been wired up and fed through the fire wall .
I’m probably missing something like too much power through the stock wire ? Or fuse not rated for an additional switch ?

Does anyone’s lights dim automatically? I wired my switch up And it was working fine but once I put the light bar into the relay, once I turn the dash lights on the words light up bright but then dim over 50%. This doesn’t matter if the light bar is actually on or not. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like you wired it to be negatively switched, and you are getting a voltage drop through the relay coil.

Beating and old, dead horse here.

LED dim just fine if you tap into the green and green/white wire on the console buttons (2nd Gen). Since it is the ground resistance that changes with the rheostat, both LED lights in a CH4X4 switch dim normally.

Not to make dead horse paté, but does this work on 3rd gen? I'm dealing with the non-dimming LEDs right now.

To bet installed: bling grill, headlights, fog lights.
I had a power button on my workstation at the day job. Too bright and at eye level. Sharpie calmed it down nicely :D
