    Like was mentioned earlier in the thread (almost a year ago), LEDs are only on or off. They do not work like filament based bulbs that you can simply reduce the power to lower the light output. Dimming LEDs is accomplished by sending them a pwm (pulse width modulation) signal. This is essentially flashing them on and off so fast that your eye cannot see the difference. If they are on for 50% of the time and off for 50% of the time they will appear to have 50% brightness output. There is more that goes into this, like the frequency and on and off time percentages, but that is the gist of it.
