Is there a special tool or device you can purchase that measures lumens and peak intensity? Seems like I saw on before. Not sure how they work. Somehow measures the light to determine the effective lumens and not just raw lumens?
Also, would be nice to have documented led brand/type, led wattage, beam distance.. all that good stuff.

Lumens, lumens, lumens - That number is not that important. Lets see the LUX readouts.

Good call, 2 seconds of research proved that I had my labels mixed up. LUX is the more important value

Above ^ darkest road I've ever been on in bumfuck, NC last night, got to use my lights for like 100 miles. Pics are 35 HID lows in Mini H1 projector and top pic is headlights + 40" LED bar + 55 W HIDs x 2

The HID spot lights are aimed a little driver side, I need to fix that.

This, and is there any method to measure "throw" how much light is projected down range. That, (to me, at least) seems even more important.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. A lux meter. Do those work for insane amounts of light? Or are they more for like residential use. I wanna learn this to figure out the effective light lumens/lux, whatever. Cuz yeah I'm convinced raw lumens ain't shit. Gives you a base to start at, but doesn't really matter when you're trying to measure combined effective lighting on the road.

LUX is very important! Lumes is more a reference number for a quick comparison of apparent brightness and LED efficiency (when combined with wattage). Screw candle power!!!

*there's always that one guy who's like: "oh you like lights? I have this search light with 1,000,000!!! candle power. I'll have to show you some day.."

Hmm. Vision x doesn't list any flux info.. memario I hope you're including them in your site. I'd be very interested in more info regarding their lights!

Oh! And I finally got around to taping off my bar to try and locate the wind noise whistle. Found it! Put a strip of electrical tape on the bottom of the bar where all the air gets forced through. Went away just like that. Now to figure out something to put on there more permanent... I was blasting my radio just to block out the damned noise! Ha.

What lights you looking for? I picked up some new bibles on Sunday..

Doesn't give specific lux values, but it does have beam pattern charts, and peak distance @ 1 lux.

Same for Rigid, but you can easily download that one.

Nice I want some!! Did u just contact them and ask for the book?
And I'm interested in their xmitter prime extreme. Specifically the 43". Beam patterns for both narrow and wide patterns at the least.

They had 10 or 12 catalogs at the truck show so I asked if I could have one :D

Hmm, the catalog doesn't have lux for the different size bars, only the 10".

Here is a comparison of the different bar patterns if that helps?
    image-55_53ecb364d55fb0eee7dbbef96c38ae7aee7ba126.jpg

I saw something about 945' @1 lux for the 43" narrow beam on google.

What the heck. Looks like so much more info in that book than their site! And holy crap, 50 watt led!? Didn't know they made that. That's gotta be insane. Literally blinding I bet. And that helps with the patterns. They only gave the option for wide or narrow. Maybe if you call to order you can get more options. Hmm. Maybe I really will save and invest in these guys. Ridiculously expensive they are... Did u get to witness any light presentations at the show??

Omfg. I have to have those 6.7" 50 watt light cannons. They must've just came out with them. Upgrades from the 4.5" ones. But damn are they expensive.
    From their site;
"Shining almost a half-mile of usable light, Vision X Lighting raises the bar with the 6.7" Light Cannon LED light. Shining over 2500’ of usable light from a single 50 watt Luminous LED..."
"The*6.7" Cannon throws 1 lux of light 2500 feet. For comparison, a motorcycle headlight low beam measures 1 lux at 88 feet, and high beam 1 lux at 153 feet."

Yeah, I love this book :D

I got to play with a bunch of display lights. Those Fkrs are crazy bright! The HIDs are something else!

I was really impressed with their rock light kit. I might pick one of those up some time.

Better start selling some of those gold bars.. LEDs for gold :p

Before you know it, we'll have gangstas driving around their blinged out hummer with skinny tires on huge rims in the city, with a gold plated or chromed out led light bar.

All Epistar stuff... huge power draw, lesser output. Definitely a get what you pay for situation there. Theyre not terrible per se, but theres much better stuff out there.
