What's with the red glow? Is that from someone's tail lights in front of you?

This may have been answered but where do you run the wire from lights installed on a brushguard to wire it to a switch. I looked all around to find somewhere to run the wire but no luck. 2013 Taco

Easiest cleanest way is to drill a couple holes on the backside tubing. Run the wires through the tubing using a fish tape. Or even an old school metal clothes hanger if it's a short run. If those even exist anymore, lol.

Heh, did u even check the link? It's what electricians use often to feed wires through conduit/pipes;) works pretty good. As long as there aren't too many bends.

Welp.. It's official. I am now a victim of condensation. Can anyone guess the brand?
Kinda obvious with the optics though.

These also were flickering on me yesterday after a good rain, when they were deactivated with a relay when headlights were activated. Then noticed the condensation today. I'm unsure if it's the relay or from the condensation inside. Probably the relay which also had the cap loose, as they were hyper-flashing when they shouldve been unpowered. Kinda strange. Had to disconnect them completely. They are working fine today though after it kinda dried out.

Yes, I know what a fish tape is and have used quite a few many times. I have a Greenlee 50ft. tape in my shed.

Looks like I hooked one fish though. Hee Hee :D

I would venture to say its your relay... the cheap relays are not usually waterproof enough or at all for that matter. water could be splashing on them depending the location. I also have seen relays not mounted properly, get turned upside down. that asking for one to short out or rust open/closed.

Hm. I WAS driving around for half the day in the rainy weather. Probly was the relay. I really need to redo my wiring. they are just kinda slapped in there in a big rats nest. I really really wanna get one of skygears fuse/relay boxes. Trying to muster up the nerve to shell out $200+ for one. Plus a second battery in the future to complete my setup. I didn't wanna spend any more messing with the wiring and adding misc crap along the way. Got other things needing attention first. But I could look at it as a needed investment. So I don't fry one or more of my bars, or something else on the truck, or the truck itself with an electrical fire!

bully bull bar, halo/angle eye headlights, 20" cree led light bar mounted on bull bar. 42" radius light bar from extreme LEDs 2 led pods, Spare tire mount on bed
I just ordered a 42" light bar that I will be mounting on my roof. I already have a 20" set up. Would it be a good idea to get another battery to hook them both up to. And if so. What kind of battery and size, where would I put it? Thanks

Sure enough. It was the relay. Got water in it. Was upside down. And got all rusted. Swapped relay and all is good. So next project is to create my waterproof case. already have the case and other things like cable glands. See if I can create a box, before I spend the big bucks on one of those really nice waterproof relay boxes. Should be fun.. I'm also still trying to figure out what the best quality automotive wiring to use. Anyone have any input on that? I'm sure it's been discussed. Just too lazy to search. Hoping there's a zip type like speaker wire but haven't had any luck finding it...

Not necessarily. Unless you plan on running more and more lights. I have a ton of lights and even with an upgraded alt and big 3, I'm on the verge of a second bat. But if all you plan to run is the 20 and 42, should be just fine. You won't know until you hook it all up. If you experience a draw on engine, or flickering, then you'll know. Maybe just a upgraded alt if anything. Unless you've got a nice sub or winch, I wouldn't worry about a second battery.

Alright... after reading for the last few days on various lighting options my final three choices are...

    Lightforce 170s mounted behind grill ($320 + $$ mesh + $$ mount + hacking up grill)
Rigid Industries SR30 mounted in lower grill ($500 craigslist find)
Avec 30" Light Bar mounted in lower grill (not sure which one yet)

I had Lightforce 170s mounted on my FJ and I loved them, but there isnt an "easy" place to mount them on the Tacoma. That is why I started looking at LED bar options but I have zero experience with them. I found that Rigid & AVEC are the top two on the forums... so which one should I buy?

    Questions:

Are Rigids worth the extra money?
Do AVECs work with Rigid Tacoma mounts (lower grill)?
Which AVEC bar would compare closest to the Rigid SR30?
