Well crashnburn80 has done more research on this subject and has spent more money doing so from a far better perspective than anyone else here from a point of Not trying to sell you "his brand" of led lights but from an engineer point of view and I don't mean the paper reading engineer but one that actually gets his hands dirty so with that being said I take his input into consideration first and foremost.

If you look at crashnburn80’s charts on led/hid bulbs, it actually shows you what is the better light.

He and I talked for a good spell about this since I have SPYDER housings... in these the HID stuff is used to “fix” the poor optics from the cheap projector units, some swap out with the RX projector.
I MIGHT attempt something like this in the Spyder housing.

From what I took away from his info is the 3rd gen projector sucks, the 1200 dollar Morimoto LED replacement headlamps are decent, but, halogen bulbs amplified with better harnessing and higher voltage are the best.

I’ve run HID systems in bikes and cars, 50/50 chance of the aftermarket stuff blowing out and burning wiring. The only aftermarket HID systems that I found that won’t do this cost over 2k... they are designed for deep sea submersible vehicles. LED stuff is still fairly new in cars, took a long time to get them to pass DOT. There is an ever present R&D and forward moving tech on these. One day soon the aftermarket will figure it out.

As of now LED drop ins are not advanced enough to do you any good service. Some are better than others. Grab crashnburn80’s charts and start the search if you REALLY must have LED lighting.

Just cause a light is brighter, it does not mean you. Will get better sight.

Think bro probably believes that CAI units give more power also...or that “synthetic” oil really is synthetic.

I did see these good, better, best options and I am now putting them into my serious considerations category. I currently have LED's in mine from when i put them in back in 2016. they are still running solid and now transferred to my 2019. The throw of these LED's are similar to that of the factory halogens. I seem to always have bad luck with cops catching me literally minutes after my headlight blows out. so the longevity

NOW i know that. loll :angrygirl:

What is this supposed to show?

    brightness in a picture outdoors?

a better “see these are better” would be a pic from a Honda Civic as you drive towards it and a pic of true measured light at the hotspot vs OEM bulbs along with “scatter” measurements.

I can post a photo of a chupacabra, does not mean it exists. As it used to say behind Mulders desk in the x-files. “I want to believe”

@crashnburn80 is not the only one that has done this kind of research, reason we all refer to his work is he is one of the TW crew and easier to chat with.

100 bucks says if you did exactly what @crashnburn80 has told others to do, you would see further and have better light than you do now...

im kind in the same boat, keep debating on an OEM light housing swap, or continue with the poor optic projectors in the Spyder lights.
