Like your post but don't have any idea whatsoever what you are talking about. But it sounds so high tech. LOL. Dannyblues

Haha I've just read that the 3rd gen Tacoma's are CAN-bus systems so people have been suggesting to get drivers for the led bulbs but it doesn't appear that everyone has them

I'd simply like to brighten my rear back up lamps. I'm aging and my night time vision has deteriorated. I have to back out a 110 foot plus long curved driveway in the dark sometimes. I use the over the cab cargo light to help ( as long as I don't forget to switch it off! )

Any suggestions about simple and easy to replace back up lights with brighter that have a sensible life???

By the way .... what is wrong with Tacoma engineers? Don't they realize many of us cover our cargo beds and don't necessarily remove the cover every time we want access the cargo area beneath the cargo cover ? Personally I now use a narrow led light strip AA battery flashlight with a magenet along one side that fastens to the metal area at the rear driver side of the cargo bed. It remains stationary even over bumpy roads and provides some necessary illumination for those times I'm carrying only groceries in the cargo area. ( I hate spilled milk, fish or chicken liquid on my back seats!).
But Toyota should have installed inside the cargo area lighting that works off a tailgate opening switch.

I tried these in low beams and found them very underwhelming due to the poor distance the light projected. The light cast near the truck was super bright giving the illusion of improvement but the effective distance was very poor bordering on unsafe. Swapped them to high beams for now and installed a morimoto HID system which has been working great.

Thanks! So you recommended that I stick to HID's? Did you buy anti-flicker capacitor?
Do you have any pictures at night?

No pics but there are plenty of examples of HID setups on here. Can do what you want, but just wanted to warn that these particular auxbeam led performed worse than stock halogen from a utility stand point.

Thanks OP for the info. Just ordered the fog lights for now they look a lot better than OEM.Need to get it out of the garage an on a dark road to really see the difference. This pic is for comparison OEM left LED right. Don't mind the mrs. polka dot stepping stool.

Thanks! And yup, I'd swap them with the original ones I posted. I've only been running my lows and found it to be bright enough, but with the tint I can understand wanting more light.

Update on the JDM ASTAR lights from the OP.

I thought they were working, but nope. Hyperflashing only when the headlights were on, and the brake lights actually got dimmer, not brighter. That's not very useful so they are going back. Anyone have any other recommendations for something better?

    Hyper flashing question:

I'm looking at replacing all the bulbs in my headlight and tail light with LEDs. Will I experience hyper flashing for my turn signals? It seems like most people who do experience it have replaced their cabin lights.

Has anyone replaced their flasher relay? (Instead of using resistors) according to dynamic diode, this will fix the problem of hyper flashing
