For those with LED light kits wired to the aux harness; I searched for hours and couldn’t find a clear answer on this although there is some frequent discussion. This post may also serve as a clear path for owners looking for a quick resource in the future.

I have a Rough Country 10” Black Series pair and also a CaliRaised behind grille LED kit I’m planning to wire up. Both have nearly identical harnesses and ON/OFF switches.

The CaliRaised light bar is 300W with a 30A inline fuse and a 40A relay. I’ll start with just one bar configuration for the CaliRaised and add on the RC

Cali Raised LED Harness ON/ OFF Switch is 3 wires connected to 85, 86 & 30. The Toyota Aux pigtail only has a power and ground.

    I’m not exactly sure how to wire the switch wire from the relay to the harness of the Aux pigtail. Here is what I’ve found so far;

    Relay

30: (Red) Power from Battery Terminal / (White) To switch

    85: (Blue) To switch

86: (Black) Ground to Terminal / (Black) Ground to LED Bar / (Black) To switch

87: (Red) Power to LED Bar

The question I have which maybe someone can offer some advice; The LED Light Bar ON/ OFF switch has power (Red) , ground (black) and a lead (blue) to send signal to the relay? I imagine the factory Aux1 switch already has power going to it and is grounded. Does this mean that any 12v wire in the accessory pigtail would connect the blue wire from the ON/ OFF switch for the relay (85)with the LED kits?

In theory, to wire this correctly I could simply connect the blue wire from the on/ OFF switch connector on the relay (85) to the wire corresponding to Aux1 Aux2 or Aux3 accessory pigtail?

Additionally, where do the grounds connect to from the Aux pigtail harness? If connect the relay ground and LED Bar grounds to the body, should I just leave the cap on the black/white wire in the pigtail and not connect to anything?

I’m also wondering if anyone would recommend against removing the white and black on the relay terminal that comes from the switch?

I made a diagram below on how this seems like it should be configured.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Just wire the blue to the accessory 12v in the pigtail? (Shown above)

In the photo of the switch wire connected to the accessory pigtail harness, I have the CaliRaised LED blue ON/ OFF switch tied to Aux 1 Black on the pigtail and and the RC LED blue ON/ OFF switch wire tied connected to the green Aux 2 on the pigtail. Does this look like it will work?

    Looks good to me.
Except I was always told it's best to use #85 as the Ground.
As some relays are diode protected. And it's "standard practice".

Does it really matter in most cases? No.

    Anyways, looks good to me.

Looks like a standard NO relay.
Wiring it up like you have above should be fine.

Perfect thank you, the confusion I guess was the switch with 3 wires that is included with the LED and the Tacoma has only 2 (pos/neg) for the pigtail harness. Should I leave the pigtail ground open or hook it to 86 on the relay. Think it will be ok to have multiple relays connected to the pigtail ground?
