Hello all, it's been forever since posting here, which is a good thing since all I seem to do is bitch about something wrongo_O

Anyway, my wife just informed me that my drivers side brake light is not working, has anyone in countered any wiring failures to the assy, I find it hard to believe all those buggers died at once:annoyed:

And maybe one of you crafty peeps has figured a way to put regular bulb in, instead of led. Here's to hoping

Have you removed the taillight to see if all the connections are connected?

And the whole assembly is dead? I.e. Turn signal, brake light and reverse light? I highly doubt it all went out at once. To test it, you could put your passenger side light over there. If that works, then the light is actually busted. If not, then it's got to be some wiring somewhere.

I'd still swap sides and see if it works on the other side. Then that'll tell you if it's the light itself or a wiring problem.

I see PJT, might not be bad idea going back to early gen 2 tailights, remind me please, all 3 lights in those are regular bulbs right.

Nope. To take them apart, you have to take a dremel and cut the lens off, then glue it back in place.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
My driver side brake light died when I spliced in for the top brake light for my shell.
Unplugged/replugged a few times and it magically worked again. No issue since.
Don't know why it happened or why that works but I saw a few other people experienced same thing.
    Worth a try.

Worst case scenario, where is a good place to pickup a pair of early producton gen 2 taillights? Ebay seems to like selling them in singles

I replaced the LEDs the first day I bought the truck. Actually swapped them with the '13 base I was trading in. I did it because I hate the way the LED tails look. The not worrying about the LEDs burning out is just a byproduct.

    Yes...all 3 bulbs are incandescents

If you're serious about looking into this...I recommend you find a '12+ set. There were 2 runs, '05-'08 and '12+. The '12+ seem to be more red in color.

And the swap is plug-and-play

I guarantee that's the problem! I bet there's just not a good connection there.

I actually have my OEM driver taillight off my 15 sitting in the attic. Got rearended, broke passenger side, I replaced both with the black Depot lights.
I'd hate to sell it to you (esp because shipping) and then find out your light wasn't the problem anyway. But, if you do want a new OEM light, I have one we can make a deal on.

The OEM '05-'08 and many aftermarket replacements have a bit more of a pinkish look to them.

The OEM '12+ seem more red in color. This might not be a big deal to you. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
