you need to find a 01-02 4runner at salvage yard AND it also needs to be a base or sr5 model because the limited edition 4runners had electronic heater controls.

if you keep a diligent watch on ebay with regular searches at least every week they show up every once and a while, but they don't last long when they do pop up.

I think your best bet would be to try using http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?userSearch=int&userPID=1000&userLocation=All+States&userIMS=&userInterchange=B>>@D&userSide=&userDate=2001&userDate2=2001&dbModel=73.2.1.1&userModel=Toyota 4Runner&dbPart=655.1&userPart=Heater/AC Control (see also Radio or TV Screen)&sessionID=200000000000000000856273111&userPreference=grade&userZip=70068&userLat=30.1499&userLong=-90.4621&userIntSelect=23781&userUID=0&userBroker=&iKey=&userPage=2

just be damn sure its the 3 knob version because a lot of the sr5 models randomly had the 2 knobs and 2 sliders like the early tacos had.

I already did the led gauge cluster swap and today my HVAC bulbs come in the mail from superbrightleds.com. I should've done them at the same time but what fun would that be???

Are these the 4mm? I was looking at the dimensions but I thought it was the 5mm. Let me know which ones work

Haven't done them yet just the gauge cluster bulbs so far which are 4 #194's. I saw on this thread it was the 4mm led's you want to get for the HVAC. I'm going to install them Wednesday. I'll let ya know

    Yes NEO4 = 4mm

Also, you can't remove the orange from the faceplate without ruining it; the black and whatever will also come off.

I tried to take mine out. Seemed pretty difficult. You have to take the whole climate control part out? Only way I could figure. Seen an old lady in a 4 runner asked her if she would trade with me and I would pay her but sadly she said no

I went to my local parts recycler and bought the whole HVAC unit for $40 then I just swapped the front Faceplate it snaps out off the old one and vice versa

Yeah you have to take the back of the HVAC Unit off to access the 3 bulbs once you take all the outside plastics off but I kept my same HVAC unit I only switched the faceplate after I replaced the bulbs since the one in my truck works perfectly fine vs. the one I got from the junkyard although I will put the junkyard HVAC unit in once my original one goes out

Would I need to solder these in place or do they just click in?
