And how is the switch wired to a 3 prong switch?

Circuit means complete loop. Ground is where all of the current flowing in the circuit ends up. Ultimately at the battery negative terminal. A relay separates the current that flows from the battery through your lights, through the high current side of the relay and back to ground from the current that flows from the battery through the coil side of the relay and your switch through the ecu and back to ground. Instead of 4A plus the dome light current getting grounded through the ecu you only have ~.1A to trigger the relay plus the dome light current.

Look at the schematic. It’s the same as you have, except the middle terminal is connected to the relay instead of the LED strips.

What part of the paper plate don’t you understand? Seems pretty clear to me.

Because my idea was to use this switch so that I can turn it on even if the dome light ground is not giving power. So my idea was the first position will turn on the LEDs as long as I need then without the done light ground because it will have it's own ground then position 2 will be the off position, position 3 is the automatic position whereby it uses the dome light ground for power.

Exactly what you need, 3 terminals and 3 positions. Try not to confuse the middle terminal with the middle position.

So the switch will have 2 grounds right? Ok from the dome light (blue wire) and one from the truck's frame right? And a wire from the relay.

Yeah, so there’s your 3 terminals.
    Ground

Hey, for the bed lights and the rear single led strip can I add a switch so that I can turn them off if I don't need them? Like just a simple 2 prong switch in the middle of the live wire...

Yup, all you are doing is providing ground for your switch current. The relay then connects your leds to ground and you get BLING.

Muddinfun did all the heavy lifting, thank him. I’m just a fucking idiot that can’t stay away. As far as independent switching goes, yes, you could then interrupt the led wires with switches.

Yes, a simple switch in the wires to whichever strips you want to not light.

I've seen a lot of wiring diagrams before, but this is the first one I have seen literally served up on a silver platter (alright paper, close enough). That's awesome!

OP, if you enjoy relay chatter that's what you'll get if you tie into the blue wire for dimming to off...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but in your diagram, if I do not use a switch, do I leave pin 86 empty? Or must I wire something to it? Thanks!
