I installed two-color strip lights on the rockers of my truck yesterday. I hooked the white lights up to my dome lights, they work great.

I temporarily connected one of the lights to my left turn signal as a test to see if I would have hyper-flash. It didn't. So I went ahead and connected both sides to their respective turn signals (spliced in behind the light socket) and turned the key to test them out. Both bulbs burned out! WTF?

I think I tapped into the ground side of the light.

What can you show about the added LED's and their taps?

The LED's are 70" strips and the hook up is pretty simple. The courtesy lights work.

So the turn bulbs burned out when turn was selected and the Yellow LED's do not illuminate?

That is due to loosing the resistance of the halogen turn bulbs. (blown coil in lamp)

No blown fuses. I disconnected the amber LEDs and replaced the blown bulbs and I'm back to normal operation. I did not connect the amber LEDs again.

    Understood.

Still not sure why the front bulbs blew out though. Would be nice if I could find a wiring diagram.

Your SR5 has the turns as DTRL as well. Maybe the circuit misbehaved while having an additional LED in the combo circuit.
Test by trying a jumper wire to the rear turn signals for the added LED's instead.

Caribe knows all :) The wire you tapped is a combination of the DTRL and turn signal. I assume you just want the strip LEDs to act as turn signals, and not DTRL as well? Do you have a link to the strip lights? I am curious what is inside that holder on the ground wire.

It's a fuse. First time I've seen a fuse on the ground of an LED strip.

Yeah, odd place for a fuse. If tapping the strips off the rear works, let us know :)

Don't go by color of wire for positive & negative. Especially when instructions are written poorly.
Color changing LED's are negatively switched for color selection.
