This is my first thread in this forum and I have a 2007 Tacoma double cab. I took out my cluster gauge and tried to do the LED Solder swap in my truck and I failed. I thought that I had correctly done it and after I did the first LED swap I took and tested it and the light I swapped did not come on. So I put everything back together and re mounted it. My check engine light is now on and I'm curious if it's because it's getting a read that my cluster gauge readings are incorrect. To get to the point I was curious if there was anyone in Georgia who could fix these LED for me and get the needles correctly calibrated again. I am usually the person who does everything by myself to my trucks but I guess I am no good at Soldering!

Are your LED's mounted with the right polarity? There should be a tiny little notch on one side of them (not a perfect rectangle). That allows you to tell the difference in positive and negative.

Ive done two clusters now. My first one I did a lot of trial and error on... Very frustrating. Once you figure out the trick it is a breeze.

On this picture you can see on the LED that is laying face up left hand side, there is a tiny notch cut out on the top right

Yes when I took the existing LED out I made sure that I put the new ones in the exact way that the other had come out with the notch pointed in the same direction. I read about that and would have never known it if I didn't see it somewhere. But I put them in correctly I am almost positive and made sure both sides of the LED was soldered down. Still no light and now I can't figure out why my engine light is on. I also made sure that the positive and negative sides were not touching so it wouldn't short on the circuit board.

If I wasn't about to get married I would help you out. Also give me excuse to buy a soldering iron. If you are still having the issue when I get back Ill pm you and give you a hand. Maybe you have a slight solder bridge or something. I also have an obdII reader we can see what code it is. So what part of Georgia anyhow?

That would be awesome! You can use what I have. Which isn't a whole lot. I live in the Athens area but am currently in Dahlonega going to school. Congrats on getting married! I actually just got engaged this last Sunday.

I just got onto this forum so I'm really not sure who to ask for help. I have a guy from California that can do it but I don't like driving around a lot without a cluster gauge at least telling me how much gas I have left in the tank haha.
