Initially I had a brake override error that led me down a rabbit hole for 3 days…

Long story short, one of my VLED’s on the right tail lamp was bad. I disconnected the plug and all my lights functioned we normal (including brakes).

I didnt have spare VLED replacements so I just inserted my factory bulbs for now.

Hopefully if anyone ever gets this alert. After checking all your fuses, Id go check your bulbs as well. (Disclaimer Im not too savy at all with electrical lol) I appreciate everyones posts through out the site to help me narrow it down.

Glad it wasn't a trailer harness connector issue.

I went ahead and ordered replacement pair of LED bulbs for the right side.

I’m surprised that you had a failure, but I suppose they do happen. I actually don’t run the VLEDS red bulbs anymore because I like the appearance of the incandescents better in the sunlight. So I keep a pack of 10 bulbs under the seat in my truck just in case I ever need to change those. But glad you figured it out.

If they end up being faulty again i’ll stick w the halogens and just use their amber/white reverse/amber turn signal lol.

Just crazy how it all happened driving home after work one morning with that damn override alert.

I’ve never had any good luck with anything I’ve bought there. I know a lot of people like their stuff, so I try not to talk about it too much but I definitely had nothing but mediocre to poor experiences on every product I bought from them. I didn’t have bulbs fall out of sockets but I did experience alternator whine when bulbs were installed and on the brake bulbs they were too bright on low mode and not much brighter in high mode. That’s how Amazon bulbs are, DD shouldn’t be the same at their price. I use VLEDS with great results for bulbs and always use Rigid for anything pod type. Never had a failure.

Diode Dynamics = Horrible company. How can a brand new bulb just fall right out? Somebody needs to be tarred and feathered then drawn and quartered. What a waste of money.

I've had the MESO kit for over a year and my only complaint is there isn't a large enough difference between running lights and brake lights. Not certain if it's because the running lights are brighter than stock, brake lights are dimmer than stock or a combination of both.

How are the VLEDs in that aspect?

Cheap LEDs usually are pretty bad about brightness differences, especially with low mode being too bright and high mode not much brighter. My opinion of the Meso was that the low mode was too bright, definitely brighter than incandescents. High mode was fine. Meso low mode was brighter than VLEDS for sure. High was about the same across the two. All the LEDs on high mode are about the same brightness as incandescents.

I actually run incandescents in my conversion, not because I thought the VLEDS were bad but I just feel like the incandescents are easier to see when the sun is on them, probably due to being warm white instead of red. The LEDs being darker cherry red just don’t seem to shine through as much, especially on all-red lamps. But I’d definitely choose VLEDS over Meso when choosing LED.

Just an FYI. Those incandescent lamps in your comparison photo are NOT Halogen.
They are just stock incandescent lamps.
If they work better for you, that's great.
