I know someone here knows what to do...

I have a tear drop camper with a galley in the back hatch. I've removed the original light fixture. I have purchased an LED lightstrip to install.

I'm an electrical idiot... can't figure out what connections to make.

    I have:
    Original/feed wires (1 white, 1 black)
    On/off switch wiring (2 black)
LED strip (1 red, 1 black)

Can someone PLEASE tell me what connections I need to make??

So does your camper have a 12v system or a 120/220 system?

Likely 12v. So hook up black trailer to black led. Put the switch between the white and red wires.

    Ok. Got it.

    Dammit. Tried. Nothing.

Even reversed the switch wires to check polarity. Still nothing.

    What else?

    Wait!

    I think I got it!

    Well. I have something.

I was just reading online about camper wiring.
Black supply goes to red of light.
    Did that.

White of supply goes to black of light.
    Did that.

I DO get power to the light strip and the on/off switch functions.

However... lights seem dim and there's a red 'warning?' Light lit on the fuse panel.

Use the multimeter to make sure that there is 12volt coming through the wires. If it is lower that might be why its dimmer.

Could also be dim if your running the wrong size led. Is it a 12v strip

This is a 12v strip from MattGecko that similar to what he makes for truck bed lighting. I'm just using it for a different application

Where are you getting the 12 volts? Tow vehicle or do you have a battery in your camper?

Battery. It's new. Been used Very Little. All lights are LED now, so little drain.

The previous light fixture had regular bulbs, worked fine. I put in LED bulbs. Worked fine (full brightness). All I've done is removed the fixture...

I just want to cry at this point. I usually can figure these things out and it's killing me!

Lights on. Seem dim. (Now... it's still daylight here (13:30) and 'dim' may not be the case later. But I suspect they are truly dimmer than they should be)
