Hey guys, I was trying to install my Prinsu Cab and Top roof racks today and ran into an issue with the tracks on my leer shell. The Phillips head screws at the end of the tracks will not come out and just spin in place no matter how many rotations I try. I really don't want to tear up my new cap or drill into it to get the end caps off. Any suggestions on what to try? The place that installed it is not open until Monday to ask them, and we all know how shitty leers customer service is.

That screw that holds the end cap runs through the roof and threads into a nut in the interior of the shell. If you've got long arms, you could probably reach it to hold while you unscrew the bolt from above. It's sometimes a regular nut that'll need a wrench, and sometimes a big plastic one that you can hold by hand.

But: removing that bolt will expose that hole through the roof. So be mindful of sealing it back up when you reassemble. Alternatively, you can get track nuts that will drop into the roof tracks without removing the end cap. Not sure if they'd work with the Prinsu, but I would guess yes.

It's already spinning in place according to him so it's going to need sealant added before he reassembles it. Any time you remove a screw/bolt in the shell it needs new sealant.

Have someone get inside and apply upward pressure on it while you unscrew it with a screwdriver (it looks like the head is already getting buggered from a power driver; I'd replace it it if were me).

@Bravo_X-Ray is there any chance you could do me a favor? I'm about to install rack rails onto my shell and I can't find any information on where to locate the rails. Is there any chance you could measure the distance between the rails and how far back from the cab they are on your truck? Is your bed ling or short? I would really appreciate the help. Your the man!

Short bed. While talking to Prinsu they said the rails should be anywhere from 36-38 inches apart. Max is 41 inches for a prinsu rack because the mounting brackets get in the way. Unfortunately mine are 42 1/2 inches apart and I just had to order special mounting brackets from CBI to make it work. The end caps start 3 1/2 inches from the front of the cap and the actual rails start 5" from the front of the cap.

I've got a 100xr on my short bed with factory-installed rails. Happy to go out and measure the placement today if you still need.

For the short bed what’s the bed length? Shouldn’t there be two options.. long or short. 682552AC-0952-4AF8-9F9A-797E342B6F7C.jpg

My truck is a long bed but I believe the width and the space from the can should be the same work either short or long. If you dont mind taking measurements I would appreciate it.

Please take measurements. Can you post a pic from the inside? I have a Leer and I am installing rails. I think the plywood reinforcement was molded off center on my camper shell.

Ok, here's some numbers. Leer 100xr (actually a Raider Vagabond Elite, but they're the exact same thing from the same factory and molds), with factory-installed Thule rails. Short bed 2017 Tacoma.
The inside edge of the rails sit 34" apart at the front end, and 34-3/4" apart at the back end. The front edge of each rail (the rail itself, not the end plug/cap) sits 5-1/2" from the front edge of the shell.
Photos of the inside. I added the d-rings and cord. Sorry if the whiteboard is in the way, but you can see the placement of the thicker portion of the roof and the mounting bolts.

That's really odd. I'm not sure which is the right options. You're right that Tacoma only has two bed sizes. They've always listed the bed length of the short bed as 60.5", which I'm sure is inside dimensions.
