To the guys with LEER toppers:

What does it take to install one of these on a truck that hasn't seen one before? Does it just attach to the bed rails?

I'm picking one up this evening and don't want any surprises.

    Thanks!

i have the XR Leer top. There are only four bolts holding it on. make sure it is pushed all the way forward. the top should come with 4 threaded nuts and bolts that fit into the bed rail system on your truck. If not go get you some 1/4" j bolts from home depot. you may need to drill a hole in the bottom of the tracks for the j-bolt.

The dealer should install it for free, at least mine did. It's not hard if you want to do it yourself. Here is a pic of how it fit together, hope this helps out.

I'm buying a used one from a private party, so there is no dealer involvement. That photo is exactly what I needed to see, though. :D

I don't suppose you can grab one of the wiring, can you?

the wiring harness runs down to the driver side tail light its just two wires. Hot and ground real easy. This shell is coming off another taco right? its only going to fit another taco.

Yes, this shell had been on a 2005 AC. It's going onto my 2009 DC LB.

Got ya covered!! My guys that did the install didn't do a good job with the wiring so I reworked it. I pulled the fabric up and ran the wiring underneath from the light to the top of the seal and then just ran it along the seal to the side and along the edge of the shell to the tail light and reattached the fabric with spray on upholstery adhesive. The pics should help explain.
