Hi, Just traded my 2006 DCSB in on a new to me 2014 access cab. As luck would have it I have found a used Leer 100XQ cap for sale (color matched) near me.
I’ve read several reviews online and have found a handful reporting the cap rubbing paint off the bed, tailgate.
Does anyone have any personal experience with this cap or even caps in general? Is this rare or something I need to worry about? Hate to ruin my paint job.

I've had caps on every truck I've owned since the 1970's. On older models where there was nothing between the cap and sheet metal you could get some minor rubbing. But with the plastic on top of the newer trucks bed rails and the top of the tailgate the cap never touches sheet metal. The Leer cap in my photo has been in place for 12 years and almost 198,000 miles with no rubbing on metal.

The plastic bed caps have rubbed the paint off of the bed, topper pushes plastic into bed causing rubbing. Bummer but not noticeable unless you lift the bed caps off. My topper is a leer. Cheers
