Following this post. Been in the market for a cap for a while now. The leer 100xr has always caught my eye with the sliders, Windoors and being how slick it looks overall. I’m getting quoted roughly around $4k with the options I’d be wanting. Dealer told me leer would be offering a finance option by next week. At this point I’m debating on getting an rsi or alu cab being that it’s lighter especially and being in that price range. Haven’t seen any used ones pop up around me for a few months now in Illinois. I have a 5 ft bed. Want to build a platform in the bed to put tools and other storage underneath for saving room in the cabin especially. looking to do discreet camping once in a while as well. Sliding and opening window is big for me being I have a dog as well and want to be able to grab things at ease.

    Theres a 100XR on her
theres a 100XR here in tacomaworld for 2k now. He just dropped the price. No windoors tho and its in alabama. I ordered mine last week before the price increase. 3625 installed with options package 4 which included windoor sliders, front removeable/sliding front window, keyless entry, led dome light, carpet and roof rails. Only thing is the wait is 2-4 months he said probably close to 3-4. My tacoma dealer said the same thing and I got it a 3 weeks after production date and it came in earlier than that I just couldn't get there quicker. Theres a guy in Oklahoma that said he would eat the cost of the new 8% fuel increase price. He was the one who quoted me the 3600 and this other place matched it.

My actual wait time was about half of what they quoted me. I think they quote the extended time just in case!

Awesome! I was kinda hoping they were over compensating but didn't want to get my hopes up. About how long did yours take?

Mine was closer to 3 weeks. She quoted 8-12. There were 2 other people getting caps installed at the same time as I was that said the same thing. I guess it’s possible it could take longer if there is a shortage of a certain part. But it seems the trend is shorter than estimated.

I ordered it in late January and received it a couple weeks into February. Not long ago. One piece of good advice is seal the bed up as good as you can before the cap is on. I was waiting for good weather that never came here. So now I’m stuck doing it now that the cap is on. I noticed most of the intrusion is from the front upper corners on the bed. There is a large gap there that isn’t sealed well.

also this is with the sliding windoors on both sides. The did tell me that everything else would be standard and quick but the windoors can take a bit. I still wanted them and it was still under the estimated time they gave me.

You just gave me so much hope lol, Im excited to get my first major mod on even tho its not a mod. It will really make a difference in the look of the truck. And ya I've been researching what to seal on the bed. Prob gonna crawl underneath it this weekend and get some of the spots covered up. What did you use to seal it up/ 100% silicone? Or the butyl tape? Im think a combination of both and maybe even take some plastic from some prosthetics at work to make some flaps for some areas.

It’s sealed with butyl tape. I think a combo would be good. My plan is to punch all wiring through the tape and use a rtv or silicone to fill the gap.
I know the feeling I was extremely excited to get mine put on. I almost called out of work to get the cap installed. Unfortunately I had to wait a couple days after it came in. It changes the truck for sure even the way it drives.

If it helps, I’m setup to buy a used Snugtop Rebel this weekend: sliding windows, fold down front, carpet, LED lighting with a factory key fob controlled pop lock, for $1,500.

That’s a steal if it’s color matched as well, I’d rush and go get it now before someone else gets there before you. I’ve heard great things about the snug tops and they look great in person, wish I could’ve found one for a reasonable price and I was looking for a used topper for around 4-5 months before I found one worth the money and even then had to repaint.

Agreed, and yeah it’s color matched to my DCLB Cement.

No one else is grabbing it thankfully, approached a guy selling his truck and struck a deal, so it’s not technically on the market.

Wish it had at least one windoor, but that’s the only compromise, so I’ll make do for now and add one eventually.

That’s a great deal! To be honest if I didn’t have windoors I don’t think I’d miss them. It’s for sure a luxury having them but the cost may outweigh the benefit of putting them on later. Not sure what the labor costs would be.

I had the same choice between alu cab or leer. I decided on the leer strictly for the appearance. The alu cab looks great but the roughness of it wasn’t the look I wanted. However, the alu cab does add that very rugged look to the rig. I know someone with the alu cab and only great things to say about it. I do love my leer though!

Same way I found my Leer 100XL just randomly was talking to a guy complimenting his truck at the gas station and he said he had just picked it up used that week. I mentioned how nice the topper was and that I had been looking for one just like it for awhile and he just said make an offer. I offered $900 and we took it off right in the gas station parking lot. I’m hindsight I should’ve low balled even more and seen what happened, he seemed too excited to get rid of it.
