Talked to my local Leer dealer today, he claimed Leer doesn't make a 180 cap for a 2015 access cab. Has anyone else heard of this? Is there something I need to inform the dealer of so they can get a cap (like maybe order one for a DCLB)? Did Leer quit making the 180 for the 2nd gen long box due to low demand maybe? Is there something different with the 2015 model vs. an earlier gen. 2? I have seen pics of several 2nd gen ACs on here with a 180 installed...

    Thanks!

I've seen 2nd Gen Access Cabs with Leer 180's. I'm not aware of anything special/different on the 2015's.

    Find a different dealer.

I've got one on mine. 2012 but same thing. Maybe they stopped making them?

I sent the dealer the web link and the picture of the same truck with a180 on it from the Leer site. I did contact an ARE dealer after that to see if an MX would fit and sent an email directly to leer. There are very few Toyota trucks in my area (Detroit metro) so I doubt the dealers around here have much experience with these trucks. My thought is maybe the plastic rail on top of the bed sides is the difference in the 2nd Gen trucks.

ARE called back, $2100 for an MX with racks, fold down slider, carpet and interior lights w/gate switch. Leer dealer called back too. He said he got my email and said that the picture of the access cab that I sent was actually a double cab. He has proven to be a complete idiot at this point. Looking for another leer dealer within driving distance. Too bad closest snugtop dealer is five hours away in Chicago.

I have a leer 180 on my '09 access cab. Fwiw, a friend has the ARE mx on his, and if I were buying new, I would prefer to have the ARE.

requested quotes from two more leer dealers. Hopefully one of them has their poop in a group. Haven't heard back from leer yet, will keep you guys informed.

got a call back from another leer dealer (also sells ARE). He didn't seem to have any issues understanding what an access cab taco is. His quote for either an ARE MX or Leer 180 with carpet, light, fold down rear slider and roof racks was pretty much $2300 for either brand, installed. I am guessing tax was extra but I didn't ask. Snugtop dealer called me too. His quote for a similarly featured Hi-Liner sport (regular Hi-liner not available for my truck he said) was just over $2800 after ultra high IL sales taxes. Was around $2500 before tax for the same setup - fold down slider, roof rails/track installed, carpet, light, pro lock (free coupon right now). An ARE dealer in Detroit area offered me a bit over $200 off for cash but pretty much the same quote as the other ARE\Leer dealer. Guess I can get a 180 still! Now just time to decide which brand will be best for my needs!

So, went to an ARE and a LEER dealer yesterday. The LEER dealer I went to said he could get the 180 that would fit. Then, after optioning it out, he said "wait, bad news. Leer says they don't make that model for your truck". He showed me the fitment guide. Leer does make a long box cap for the double cab, but not for the access cab. He said it likely had to do with differences in the angle of the back wall of the cab between the AC and DC. He said it may fit, but the gap would not be consistent or possibly the cap could rub the cab. He said he would contact Leer and get back to me Monday or as soon as Leer responds. The ARE would be 2370 for fold down rear slider, free carpet upgrade, roof rails (no bars) and the standard side windows and the LED light with gate switch. The Leer deal quoted me 2154 for the same setup. The ARE had the single center latch/lock, Leer had one on each side of the rear glass. Other than that, the tops seemed to be pretty much the same. It would be interesting to see how the 180 fits on an AC. This dealer said if it isn't on the fitment list, then Leer likely never made that cap for the AC. So, it seems as though maybe people with the 180 on an AC actually have the DCLB version installed. I would like to know if anyone who has the 180 knows if they have an AC specific unit, or if it is a DC version and if so, what does the gap look like between the cab and top?

This is interesting. I actually bought my 180 used from a guy with a dclb. The gap is tight, the top corners are really close, always thought it was a little less than ideal, but it doesn't look bad, and it doesn't rub. Maybe 1/2" of clearance at the tightest spot.

cool, this is good to know. Thanks for the info! I will post back what the dealer hears from Leer. I called Leer directly on Friday and left a message for Joe (mid west rep) shortly after 9am, he never called back but he may have had Friday off.

Leer dealer called back. He said the leer factory said the top will fit the 2015 AC. Also said he would beat any other quote for same top.
