    Hey guys,

I’ve looked through several threads and videos of how to hook up electrical for a camper shell via LH tail light, but was interested to see if anyone has used a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter and tied into their existing hitch electrical wiring at all?

I know it makes no sense if you tow anything often, but I don’t and hate the idea of splicing into wiring, especially since the back of my taillight housing turns into a dust party (lots of dirt roads). At this point all I really care about is the third brake light, I’ll probably end up using a separate power source for the interior cab light.

Current 4 pin connector on the cap I’m gonna rewire

I just wired mine after looking at post on here.
I used that 4 pin to 4 pin flat extension you posted. Cut it and left longer side on the tailight.
I cut off the connector you have there. The white one.
Spliced one side onto camper shell. Matching the wires in pairs. SO t 2 hot and 2 grounds. One ground white/black off taillight and another off the body panel behind the taillight.
One pair of wires is for the 3rd brake light, positive green.red strip and negative white with black stripe off my left rear tailight.
Ran my connector from inside the cap in a little slit by the mounting point of the cap.No holes drilled.
my dome light only comes on when my parking lights are on. For now.
I should add pic, when I get time.

Just wire camper 3rd brake light to driver side brake light. Search my name and brake light and it’ll show you how to do it along with what color wires to use.
