Has anyone ever had their Leer cap/ topper 3rd break light leak water? Looks like a simple fix but I think I’m going to get the install shop to do it so it doesn’t void warranty.

Yes, I had just what you are showing in your pics going on with mine. I live in an area with a lot of fir trees and in my case it seemed that debris from the trees got caught between the light and the shell, allowing water to get into the hole underneath the carpeting for the wiring. After cleaning it out I used some frog tape and clear silicone to seal off the top so that water and debris could not get behind the brake light from above while leaving the lower section open to allow anything that did get under it to escape. Have not had an issue since.

Had the same issue with mine as well, just pulled it out put some sealant on the back side of the light and reinstalled. Can’t even tell if you take your time.

Had the same issue with my 2016. Took it back to the dealer they wanted $500. But after raising some heck they did it for free. They said it was a common problem

Mine did the same thing. Right out of the gate. Because the topper place is 2 hours away from me I just pulled it out, siliconed it and put it back. Totally fixed it and has been good since! No leaks

Turns out it was the gasket from the factory has a gap in it. Cap-it fixed it under warranty! Score.

Maybe we could get a @mesojdm replacement? I would volunteer mine for R&D.

I had the same leak. Ended up using silicon to fix it myself. The design is bad.

Just noticed mine leaking too. Guess I'll hit it with a little silicone.

I had one on my F150. It leaked like crazy. I sealed it up with silicone.

Bumping this thread back up. So for those of us who tied to fix this with some silicone and broke the tail light housing putting it back on, anyone have recommendations for a fix? Tried to seal up the leaks but ended up with a bigger problem

Mine was installed with just 2-way sticky tape...no screws...probably would have damaged it or the finish trying to pry it out...so, just used silicone all the way around it...no issues since.
