About to purchase a new Leer Cap for my '14 reg. cab, 4 banger Taco. The truck is mainly used for camping, and 4 wheeling the desert. I'm starting to look at the Leer "180" cap, for a little more head room alone for sleeping in the back. What worries me is any extra weight, vs. the added height. Anyone have any experience, or thoughts on the two different caps?

If I was planning on sleeping back there a lot I would get the 180RCC

I had a cab height on my 2009, it served me pretty well although I never used it for camping. For my 2013 I found a used 180, I've built a sleeping platform and used it on a roadtrip last summer, it was very nice. I don't notice a difference in weight but I have the 4.0. So far no regrets about the 180.

I've always ran with cab height toppers, and prefer the looks. But I've never camped in the bed of my trucks either - the extra headroom would be worth it. Weight difference should be marginal - not enough to make a noticeable difference on the butt-dyno. Frontal wind drag should also be marginal. You *MAY* notice a difference with a side wind - more surface area. But again, marginal.

The only drawback is if you want to put a canoe or something that is longer than the cap and needs to have support under where the cab is - big gap to fill.

Love my 180 - weight difference is minimal.

I was going to buy a Leer 180 for my reg cab, but after I placed the order at the local dealer I got a call saying Leer dosent make the 180 for reg cabs.

I thought maybe there was a mistake so I called Leer and got the same info.

Here is a link to a accurate Leer fitment chart.

If you don't like clicking links google Leer fitment chart.
Leers website will allow you to configure the 180 for the reg cab 2nd gen but that is incorrect.
