ARE offers a no lip option when building your cap. I just picked this one up on Craigslist and was lucky that it had that.

After getting quotes for all three ARE,leer and Snugtop I still don’t know which one to get.the Snugtop has a small coupon on top of free headliner, leer has the best coupon right now for $200 Thule rack plus free headliner and ARE had the headliner and free install..also I was informed the owner of leer now owns Snugtop, but I wasn’t able to get the same Thule discount at the Snugtop dealer which is what I wanted:/

Thx! I'm having fun with it. I love the SnugTop and have not regretted the purchase.

This fucking forum makes me second guess everything! In reality I've had zero probs with my Leer, and going keyless on the window/tailgate locks is pretty slick. I've also never had windoors and never felt the need for them, especially with a short bed.

I regret the Leer too. Next truck will be a Snug Top unless Leer fucks up that production build too.
Love having a cap though, lots of options doing stuff inside and outside too.

I will be brutally honest here...They all suck. Our new 2500$ snugtop is back at the factory getting rebuilt as it leaked everywhere. I have also sent back 2 high end leers in the past and eventually just returned them and got a refund. The whole business is whacky. Leer/Are/Snugtop are all cut from the same cloth. And most of the dealers are worthless when it comes time to solve an issue as well. If I lived closer to a smaller manufacturer that you can deal with DIRECT I would have loved to go that route!

There is no need to second guess your decisions. People will always recommend and give advice from their perspective. I have a Leer 100xr and customized it around my dogs and camping.

For anyone looking into purchasing a truck cap, run down the list and see what options you will require for your intended purpose. Be careful though, the price seems to rise fairly quickly.

One thing I noticed with the Leer is that the overhang tends to run larger than ARE or SnugTop.

I also priced every dealer in a 200 mile radius, the price differences are worth the hassle.

Leer all the way! Snugtop has odd lines with the Tacoma. Snugtop kinda looks like a tutle shell. :turtleride:

BTW don’t forget to get the windoors! They come in handy!

I have a Centry. I believe they are made by Leer. Could be wrong. I love my shell and the color is perfect. Take my truck out 4x4ing in desert and mountains. No complaints.

Really happy with my Snugtop Rebel. Not too many frills, but it stays dry in PNW winters.
