I ordered a Leer 100xq for my 3rd Gen Tacoma the later part of January. I was told production/delivery time was about 8 weeks. I'm right at 8 weeks and when I contacted my Leer dealer, they are saying it could be a couple weeks still. Apparently they are having some issues sourcing windows. Curious if anyone else has ordered a Leer shell recently and what their lead time was/is.

I got mine about 6 months ago. It’s a Leer XR with all the upgrades. Mine took 18 weeks from the day I ordered it. I got the same story about the windows and was advised NOT to get sliders because of the windows being hastily made because of the shortage. Employee training and retention was also a problem. Mine had minor issues from factory but nothing crazy.

BTW… it’s for sale if anyone is looking for one. DCSB in metallic gray. Hit me up! Going a different route.

Same story as above. Ordered 100XR with nearly identical options on January 21 and it was installed today. The dealer originally said 4-6 weeks, so 7 weeks was fine. Pretty happy with the matching, options, finish, etc!

Well it’s been over 12 weeks so far and no word on my camper shell. Really disappointed in Leer and my dealer. I’ve tried to contact Leer 2x via their online portal. No response to even confirm that they have my order. Calling tomorrow. I understand delays, but no info when I’ve paid them already=one pissed off Tacoma owner.

Here's an update, should anyone else fall into this mess in the future.

The dealer finally responded and was more responsive after I contacted Leer customer service, who were great btw. They confirmed max 8 week delivery time. After finding my order (requires PO/Dealer name), they confirmed that the order was placed not when I ordered it in January, but at the beginning of May - when I pressured the dealer for a PO. Also, they confirmed that the order was on hold as the dealer's account was suspended for non-pay. Reminder: I paid the dealer in full back in Jan. Leer put me in touch with their area sales manager who is helping me sort things out. Lesson, get a Leer PO when you order, avoid paying in full up front and don't pay cash, and if you run into issues, call Leer dealer customer service: (574) 522-5337. They are great. Fingers crossed, I'll change dealers, get my credit card company involved and have a shell here shortly.

so sorry you’re dealing with this, I hope it’s resolved soon so you can enjoy your shell.

to be honest, after seeing reviews of leer, snugtop and ARE, as companies they seem to be lacking quality and consistency and the dealers seem to be hit and miss when it comes to being helpful.

I’m not sure what to do at this point, I really don’t want to spend 4K to get involved in this mess. The interactions I’ve had to date with dealers seem to be lacking and for some reason there are a lot of used, “brand new” snug tops on the market at dealers; reading snugtop reviews sound like a horror story.

For those who have the factory installed tracks on top of there leer cap what's the maximum amount of bar spread/distance for the bars on the topper for a short bed?

5 months later and I have my shell. Leer customer service was impressive and responsive once involved. I had to file for a credit dispute with my credit card company, get credited then order via another dealer. Leer covered upgrades and got the shell done very quickly. Out the door for $3300, but probably closer to $4500 if I had to pay for all the upgrades.

The shell looks great. Some minor things I don’t love, frame, seals etc. but overall happy.
