    Follmer,
See you have the flat metal bands mounted next to the mounts. Any body know what purpose they are supposed to serve?

According to the installation guide, they are "stiffener braces". It doesn't say anything besides that, but I assume they're provided in case you have really heavy things on your rack. They just attach between two of the cross bars.

My rack is actually the first time I've seen them anywhere, no install videos that I checked out prior had them, so it must be something new.

    "Installation Guide"......you lucky duck!
No guide came with mine, and like you did not see a vid with these being installed. Kinda had a feeling, now need to take it apart to do the install, egads!

    Thanks.

We'll really they just sent a business card with a QR code on it that takes you to this part of their website for the installation guide ;)

    https://prinsudesignstudio.com/install-guides/

But yeah I've never seen anyone use them. Also I'm not sure how worth it it is if you ever move your crossbars. It's a lot of tedious work putting the stiffeners on, and I only did so since I never plan on moving the cross bars, so be sure you want them first.

Probably go ahed and do the install. Like the idea of added braces.

Once again, thanks for starting this thread. Some very good answers, that provided peace of mind that the install is correct and safe!

I just got my 100XR in today. Tracks are definitely in the "flat" position and 42" apart. The contoured Sherpa's I ordered in advance won't work for me.

If anyone is interested, I guess I will be selling a set of the contoured soon.

Won't they trade you out for their flat foot version?

I ordered bare and painted them myself - killing my chance to return. This Leer inconsistency just bit me. No fault on Sherpa.

Link does not work anymore. Is the angled version the one to buy if your Thule rails were not mounted flat? Does anyone have the Sherpa feet and a cab rack? Are the level? Thanks in advance!

So who makes the tracks that are tilted to compensate for the slope of the cap (OP's tracks)? My Thule tracks are flat and I can definitely see that Prinsu doesn't take that slope into account on their end (side/side nor fore/aft). Not that I'm looking forward to remounting everything again. :annoyed:

I’m having some tracks installed this week for this same rack. Any input on how far apart I should have them would be appreciated.

According to the Prinsu installation instructions, the tracks should not be more than 42.4" apart, center to center, if you want to use the standard mounting feet. On the other hand, you don't want to install the tracks in the honeycomb center section of the cap roof. (Leer factory-installed tracks now follow these specifications.)

Keep in mind the stock Prinsu mounts don't account for slope.

I’m going to go with 42” even then. Thanks
