Leer XR preinstall sealing...advice

If you go that route, at least have him weld fillets in the corners, so that the 90 degree angle is maintained. A simple L will bend just like the sheet metal that's already there.

 

OP, are you saying the Leer dealer/installer doesn't seal up the front of the bed where the cap meets the bed because they claim it "needs to drain"?

I'd say find a different installer or install it yourself if that's the case.

My installer used some sort of pliable rubber compound and sealed everything up nicely on my Leer 100R.

 

Solid advice! can confirm as I had a similar process.

 

Here's what I did regarding the clamps and bed stiffeners on mine:

Only that specific design (of clamp) will work on the front. I had the Leer dealer / installer give up when I requested front clamps. I had to find them on my own -- ended up paying $35 for the set of 4 from Amazon.
