No sir, nor the steering wheel. With the key turned to the on position, rotate your steering wheel to the left or right to expose the Phillip head screws behind it, holding the clam shell trim together. Remove the screws (one on each side), then tug on the lower half of the trim to see how it's mated with the top half. It comes apart pretty easily, but be careful not to damage the delicate plastic, so it will snap back together tightly.

So I have the dash torn apart (thanks for the tip about the steering wheel) and the connector just under the turn signal headlight stalk (below). But no red/green wire? What am I missing? The red arrow is where the connection plugs into under the stalk.

Your pic is really dark, but on my 2011 it is in the white connector shown in middle of your pic. I had to carefully trim back the shiny black plastic sleeve around the wire bundle to make room for a wire tap.
    Is there a red-green there?

I got nothin, sorry. We need @Muddinfun or @caribe makaira or another member. I don't get anything done without their info.
You know it's one of the wires in the headlight stalk electrical connector.

    All finished.

    Wiring soldered and wrapped:

I dug out the plastic spines then offset the whole switch with some nuts. I didn't want it to stick out to far.

    Installed and working:

Solid and clicks nice and easy with the left foot. My only worry is it is in the middle of the dead peddle. May have to move it up if the button gets to much in the way of my left foot. I tend to use that peddle to push off and "settle" myself into the seat. Driving I should be ok since my foot is angled slightly anyway on the dead peddle. Time will tell.

    Fun project!

If I were to install it...
Small box ABOVE the foot rest...

May do that. Also thinking about getting another foot rest and "merging" them together. I have big feet so farther up will be required. Biggest issue is where to mount 2nd foot rest (either way) without drilling holes.

I gotta say, this whole thread really is a solution in search of a problem. If you have time to fool with the change to a foot pedal for the lights I suggest spending your time on other more useful pursuits (like trying to get laid, etc.).

In addition, as an old fart I remember that all cars had the foot switch pedal until about 1970-75 when the change occurred. I don't know why it was done, but suspect it saved the car makers 10 cents per car by not having to install wiring to a different location. The first car I had with the lights on the stalk was a 1973 German made Opel. I have no idea whether the foot pedal or stalk switch is safer, but considering there are millions of cars made with the stalk I suspect its not an issue.

Place board-like material on top of the original foot rest. measure and cut to length. Modify the second oem foot rest to match the new top length. One would secure it place, the other as "support'.

Been married 25 years - nuff said.

And try the cigar, shifting and steering on a 2 lane road - left foot makes sense after that :anonymous:

Couldn't you just drive with the lowbeams, and adjust your speed to what you can see with the lowbeams?

I think that would be the easiest thing to do.

I only base this off my limitted experience driving at night where it's not usually completely dark. I can't recall ever having the need to really need the highbeam pattern.

I have used the highbeams before, but could gave gotten by using the lowbeams.
