I'm helping some family in Houston Texas fix up a broken down T-100. It has the 5VZ-FE engine (same as Tacoma/4-runner) and it needs a new valve cover. Someone in the past over torqued the bolt just forward of the oil filler plug and now the cover has cracked all the way through and is spitting out oil. I called every junk yard in town and none have a "good" part to replace this with. I called NAPA and they can't even find a part number for it. I just put some RTV around the broken piece and bolted it up , but if this doesn't work where and how can I find one quick without going to a stealership? (this truck has 300,000 miles and on its 8th life)

    Thanks! :)

Find a welding shop and ask if they can fix it.

Wouldn't be a job for an amateur, but if it's just a crack a professional should be able to weld it up without warping the cover.

Welding would probably work but it would be a last ditch effort.

Them and a few other places won't sell just one valve cover. I need to buy the head or larger assembly.

Also found out not all 5vz valve covers are the same as Toyota added coil packs a few years down the road. Merry Christmas!!!

JB Weld for a temporary (or long term) fix. I've seen it done on race quads.

I just cracked mine in the same place, I guess they werent kidding about the 53 in lbs. I was trying to tighten mine to stop it seeping oil on my exhaust crossover. I found this website for new covers, a lot cheaper than ebay, under $200.
