My 01 Prerunner left turn signal is fast blinking, about 4 times faster than the right side. I've replaced the bulbs front and back(although they were both working), but still has the same fast blinking problem. They work...but it's annoying to say the least. I've traced the wires and nothing looks pinched or grounded. I would think if the flasher relay was the problem, it would be doing it on both sides since there's only one relay, correct?
Any ideas what to look for next would be appreciated.

Change all left side to the right and right to left and see if your issue moves. I had the same issue and found a bulb problem that would light. I can see where a incorrect watt bulb would cause the issue. Don't overlook a short in the trailer plug wiring. Beyond that, I would throw a flasher at it.

mechanical flashers work off resistance. if you have smaller bulbs, more power gets to the flashers and makes them blink faster. nearly burned bulbs will also mimic this effect! you should also check to see if any of your bulbs are shorting inside the socket. possible. did you put in any LED lights recently? they will cause this.

if everything seems fine you should be able to switch your flasher to an electronic flasher, it will keep the standard speed no matter what happens.

Thanks for the replies. I will try swapping sides to see if the problem moves. If that doesn't change change, I like the electronic flasher idea.

I did check the fuses, and all are good.

Swapped the bulbs, but no change. I will purchase the electronic flasher next and replace the one that's there. From looking at other threads, the EP-35 by Tridon or Novita is the one to go with. I checked with my local auto zone and they do carry it. Hopefully, that will fix the hyperblink problem.

Do you happen to have a trailer wiring harness installed on your truck?

Not on this one. I looked under the bumper and it does not look like it was ever wired for trailer lights.

Thanks for the all the inputs on this issue. The EP-35 Electronic flasher did the trick. No more hyperblinking.

Flasher is attached to the back of the interior fuse block. You have to remove the panel under the steering column to get to it.
