Next day we drove to moab to run hell's revenge. The drive was amazing with the red rock and the river..20210917_103832.jpg 20210917_104206.jpg
And I don't have any pics on my phone but we were supposed to run hells reving and then possibly fins and things. But .. I ruined notions of that. While we're were watching a parade of jeep Comanche's drive up the escalator I went to get something to drink and I notices fluid leaking from my truck. My steering rack decided to puke it guts out . I ended up pulling the belt and we drove out sans power steering. The next 500 + miles were done without power steering. We left moab and found a camp spot near canyonlands but in the pines. It was nice we even had cell service.
Next day we went to one of the arches parks . It was pretty awesome.

After lunch I split up with the group, I headed back to out first night camp which was about 10 or 20 miles back down the road. I had lost a expensive knife that I wanted to look for.
After no luck retracing my steps I head out. I couldn't find the road that the rest of the group used to go to the next night's camp. So I decided to just start heading home. They got rained out but saw a cool cliff dwelling.
There was a pretty decent storm rolling through the Navajo nation. I bombed through the valley of the gods trail. I was worried about being caught on the trail as there were signs stating that it could be impassable when wet . I finished the trail in about 20 or so minutes. Definitely put the shocks through there paces. Truck handed fine even with a off kilter landing or 2.

After I finish the valley of the gods road i headed back through Monument Valley and then stopping for a late lunch . Then it was a mad dash though the reservation in torrential rain with a bad driver's side wiper at night. If you've never driven this road, it a 2 lane hwy that can be busy with crazy drivers and short passing lanes . I might have been one of thoes drivers.
The blessings in disguise of not having power steering is the old fat girl had some pep to her step. 20210919_183412.jpg 20210919_183424.jpg 20210919_183518.jpg 20210919_183551.jpg 20210919_183620.jpg 20210919_183700.jpg 20210919_183728.jpg 20210919_183826.jpg

So my last trail ride I heard some popping noise when the truck rocked from front to rear. And then when I went to weight it. It started popping a lot. Needless to say we took the surface streets home.
I'm gonna look at the prices of a stock set of ball jts but I'm thinking about going with the unchallenged conversion lower ball jts. There's two guys making them. So I'm going to do some investigation on which to get. But there like 5 or 600 money dollars. Maybe some solo arms at the same time??

    My bad I meant:

    https://www.solomotorsports.com/sho...ota-parts/toyota-lower-uniball-heim-steering/

    along with their LCA's

I put the LCA's on my wife's 4runner and it's a nice aid to running bigger tires. You could definitely run 35's with some tubbing considering this guy on stock lowers (I just want to run 275's max)

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mrbeggins-04-tacoma-build.269822/

From the builds I've watched and my own tubbing job it will help a lot to have those control arms though.

FWIW stock LBJ's don't seem like an issue when replaced before there's too much wear.

They should come with hardware when you order anywhere.

I want to . I'm afraid the time line might be getting moved. I'm getting married in like 22 days too. Either way I'll have the truck going again soon. And I really want to make that drive.
