Are you running 35’s and the white 1st Gen 33’s? Some of that looked pretty gnarly.

    Pretty close , 285 75 17s, i think @Phessor is running 255 85 16. And the other white one had 285 70 17. Or he has the 75 16's i don't remember.
There definitely was a couple of spots. I was happy the be in a 1st gen and not a full-size ford.

Easy miles plenty of stops seeing the sights. Started the day gassing up. We did lose one of the party members who had other obligations.

    Day 8.
Long ass drive home. I had hoped to take a different route but due to worsening mechanical problems I took the more direct route. Had to stop for gas first. Definitely a cool little gas station.

That's awesome thanks for sharing. Winter of 19 almost looks like a paved road.

    So today's projects.
My Swingout has a strut to hold it open ,one of the ends gave up the ghost on the trip. I found a cheap temp replacement on Amazon tell I can get the original style ,the OG has a lot beefer ends.

I was tired of not having my stero playing my front speakers so I decided to fix my power wire for the amp. I was previously using wire ferrals and they just didn't hold up to the frequent battery removal. It came loose on one of my trips . I'm lucky it didn't short anything or catch my truck on fire. The wire ferrals were heatshrank to the wire and were cranked down as much as they would go. So I replaced both sides with a regular lugs,I did have to trim the plastic cover a bit too. I just need some longer bolts and I'll be ready to go.

    Here's the strut.

I also adjusted the latch. It was loose. I really need to find a better way to lock the carrier in

I have one of those on my swingout to hold it open
    upload_2025-1-19_21-4-11.png
Clicks into those drilled holes when its opened
Or could add another hole for it to lock into when closed

A better latch location would probably help the most. I mounted mine at roughly a 45d angle, to get it to pull the swing into a stop, as well as down onto a rest. Zero rattle or movement this way. A little ugly though since it sticks out. Pros n cons.

I agree with the latch either being at an angle or vertical as it looks like a few designs have the weight of the arm resting on a HDPE or some other kind of pad and a latch that locks it down on the pad. Usually those pins are used for keeping a swing out open and they're really useful. This bumper has one holding a harbor freight floor jack into a mount and it's all that holds it in place - this is Bobby, the owner of Solo Motorsport's personal truck and it's his product so you know it's capable in other applications.
