I have Monday off, thinking of going fishing on the Lehigh for a bit, before picking the boy up. If no fishing, I'm going to prep, prime and paint my skids, finally.[/QUOTE]

If your planning on trout fishing, I would suggest doing the skids.
Water temp is up to 70*
Fishing is poor , and if you would happen to hook , the stress will most likely kill the fish even if it's released quickly.

Are you a memember of LRSA Carey ?

I am not a member yet, are you?

If I fish, it'll be in Blakeslee on private water, or upper Lehigh.

Yes, I have been a member for many years.
When I started fishing the Lehigh , I figured that if I'm going to enjoy the benefits and the fishing I should contribute. The membership $ goes directly back into the fish and water quality improvements.
Since belonging , I started to realize that it's more than just having a good time fishing. It's helping keep the fish alive so one can continue to enjoy good fishing. There needs to be more education here on the east coast as to conservation and being a steward. Too much of a mentality of killing everything you catch
I've seen some terrible behavior on the water !
Out west ( I think your from there ) they seem to care more and show respect. I don't know how they get it across to people but we need it here. I try to politely inform people I meet on the water on the consequences of there actions. Sometimes I might as well be talking to a rock !! o_O Sometimes not :)
I think tomorrow morning , I'm going to float the river , no fishing though.
The Lehigh is only stocked by LRSA and the upper or middle is the Five Mile High Club. Below the dam is state stocked for a small stretch.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do . We'll have to meet up sometime

I rarely keep fish, and generally don't even touch them before release. I've taken a few pics with my boy with stockies from put and take streams, otherwise they are separated from the hook while in the water with my pliers, etc. Definitley a lot of meat fisherman out there, which is fine, just not for me.

I lived out west for three years and got my start fly fishing there, and was spoiled, but am from PA originally. I've been in the valley since 2002, and have only fished the Lehigh river like 5 times, and live less than a mile from it....sad I know. I may have thrown a line in more than that, but not seriously fished it. We took a drive a few weeks back and ended up stopping at the Bowmanstown launch. I casted 15 times and let the boy reel it in with a roostertail, etc. I generally like small stream stuff better. My buddy has a place on the Tobyhanna just out of Blakeslee, that is private access on that stretch. It's still running pretty cool right now.

Let's meet up, you can show me all your hot spots on the river!! :boink:

Hahaha , I've been fishing it for years and haven't put my finger on the "Hot Spots" it's a Big river !
Pretty much anywhere is good if you can match what thre eating.
This year was tough , strange. I believe it was the weather.
If your into smaller streams , I can show you a spot or two.
