I have the ACS system and absolutely love it. The best thing about it is that you can customize it to whatever activity you're doing on any given day. The top support bars can be moved to the back so you can load in larger items, the side pods and accessories can be removed/moved with just a couple screws. The price is high, but then again so is everything in the 'overland' scene, with this you're paying for a quality product and a very clever design that can only be appreciated when you see it in the flesh. The Leitner rack combined with the Decked system is a dream for storage. I have zero regrets about going this route compared to a topper.

We get it, you know how to weld a rack together. I think most people know that you can build something for way cheaper than you can buy it.

But lots of us either don't have the time to design and build, or don't have the necessary tools for the job, or the space in which to do it.

Hence why we outsource the work and expertise and pay a premium for it. On top of it, this rack is a beautiful and ergonomic design with tons of modular features that I bet most people who just want to weld something together in their garage PROBABLY wouldn't have thought to do.

Ya, it's expensive.

You could use this argument to go so far as...why don't people just build their own car? All you need is a crate engine, weld together a metal frame, get some shocks, a driveshaft, some axles, rudimentary electronics, bolt on some seats and you're good to go.

Would you recommend those corner mounts? The website doesn't provide install instructions, do they use existing mounting points or require drilling?

 

I stand by everything I have on my truck. Would I recommend them? I guess it depends on what you're trying to use them for. I like mine, and modified them for standard air fittings that route to my bedside compressor. They mount directly to the factory bed rails, but you have to have the front side header rail for them to work. I did have to modify them a little to work with the Leitner rack, but that only involved cutting off a small metal tab that ran inside the bed rail. They came with all necessary hardware to bolt on straight out of the box. I originally got them to further stiffen, and that was before I got the bed rack. They just kinda morphed into what they are now.

 

Awesome. They really caught my eye as I have just recently ordered my leitner ACS and was looking for a place to potentially mount my firestick antenna for my CB. Understanding how you use them, so you think that they way they are oriented would I be able to mount an antenna there with the rack installed?

You could probably get it to work, but I'd probably drill another hole for an antenna so it didn't hit the rack.

Looks great! The forged rack came out a couple months after I got my ACS. Was totally kicking myself for not waiting. My antenna setup is same as yours. I used Rago's mount.

 

Did you make this? I love the slope down back. Was looking for something like this.

Why would you have gotten the forged rack? I get that it's stronger, and also $400 more, but the payload capacity of a Tacoma isn't extraordinary. I'm currently debating the two but can't figure out what I'd need the added capacity for.

 

You can have way better sex in the your roof top tent because it's rated for a higher dynamic load.
