Glad you asked this. The stock load capacity is rated for stock suspension and stock bed. Strengthen the bed by bolting it all together, and add some bed stiffeners and you just completely changed the structural integrity of the entire rear half of the truck. Couple that with a rear spring upgrade and whats the new load capacity? You wanna get real fancy? Regear it... Now you've got an entirely different truck.

Thanks for the information. I went ahead and got a forged a week or two ago as I figured you had a good reasoning.

What material did you use for the inner canopy? That's an awesome rack. I just installed a leitner and am trying to figure out how to put an inner canopy in it. Mostly just looking for something that'll produce some shade and keep thing reasonably dry when I'm not moving. My current thinking is some sort of waterproof canvas with elastic/straps to the rack and the bed tie downs.

I wanted to let anyone who was interested know that I emailed questions to Leitner about their bed rack. Really nice people. They actually responded within in hour. They did say to stay tuned because they were working on making the rack compatible with some kind of tonneau. If that is the case and I can get the rack and have it work with a tonneau then I am 100% going this route. Lots of good stuff on their Web site about the product. Really well designed. Really well made. And, one of the few companies that are very open about their static weight capacities -- I think 1,400 pounds on the newer ACS rack. That says alot about the product and the company. Every other rack manufacturer hems and haws when you ask them about the weight capacity of their rack. Yes you pay for it but it seems worth the cost to solve a problem and not have to worry about it.

+1 on the forged rack. Love the sliding rear cross bar and quad t slot mounts. My buddies got a RCI universal adjustable bed rack and I hate loading and unloading under his bars. Cargo boxes are very convenient compared to the pelican Harddigs I used to load up.

I recently installed the ACS forged rack on my 2020. Leitner Designs customer service is great. I emailed them with some questions and they were very prompt with their response. They also recently started offering 20% off to military and first responders which helps a lot considering the price of the rack and accessories. The shipping was fast and the parts all came packaged and labeled very well. The instructions made installation easy. I intend to mount a rooftop tent and some camping accessories to the rack. I am very impressed with the engineering behind this system. It is very evident how much though went behind the entire system, from the fit and finish of the rack itself, to the hardware and ease of installation of the accessories. Yes, the price of the rack and accessories is on the higher end for bed racks but in this case you really do get what you pay for. If your budget allows, this system is impressive and I do not think you will be disappointed one bit with your decision to purchase.
