My 18 Cement, has the same problem in certain area's grille surround, and lower part of sides. 12 MGM also had same thing.

Go find the local hot rod and muscle car group. Ask them who they used for a body shop. They will give you the best of the best when it comes to body shops. Chances are its going to be some old guy who works out of a small shop.

Gotcha. Just asking, because I was a neurotic wreck when inspecting mine before I committed. haha Mechanical shit I could've missed, but not any exterior flaws. Good luck.

Just go get a good layer of dirt on your truck and all the tiger striping will go away. Problem solved

Pics or I can guarantee you people will start accusing you of trolling. It’s 2019 I know you can post some pics up. Talking about this is a waste without seeing the issue. Come on dude seriously.

I get it man, and I don’t give a shit less if you troll or not. I’m just saying that starting a silly thread with a subject such as lemon law is gonna leave you with nothing but drama if you don’t give the wolves of TW something to gnaw on.

I think you will never get it covered under the lemon law, but I would still like to see what you got going on. It sucks, but it will get fixed under warranty if nothing else.

It is a bit silly to start a thread on a legal issue topic without any kind of pictures or proof to help members give input. If you are having such an extreme paint issue that it may be a question of whether you are eligible for a lemon law case or not you gotta at least show us your truck man.

I did clink the link but again every truck and situation is different. I think if you had posted pics saying “hey guys do you think this constitutes a lemon law truck” it may have given you better results.

With no pics of “your” truck it’s hard to really make a good judgement call. Either way I’m done with the guessing game until pics are posted. Until then I hope you get your answer.

One more thing... 5K+ in repairs isn’t on you or your wallet, so why would you worry about the cost? Do some research on the blue Tacoma’s and the horrible issues they have been subjected to. All covered under warranty. Relax man. Toyota will take care of you.

Then let me give you a definitive answer, sight unseen...
No lemon law until they, In good faith, have tried to fix it multiple times.
So let's say they agree your paint sucks. The agree to repaint it. It turns out shitty.
    Still can't lemon law it.
Next, you prove to them that their paint job sucks, they agree and they paint it again. You still think it sucks but by then, they won't.
Now, if you are not satisfied, then you start proceedings and this involves Toyota, dealer and maybe an arbitrator. Then maybe an attorney.
My advice? Next time you buy a truck, make sure:
Sunny day or take truck inside under lights
Never buy in the rain or snow
    Never buy at night
Be able to look at all sides from several feet away.

    Good luck.

Well said man. All truth. It sucks, but that’s why fully inspecting a truck that costs over $30K is a must. Hell even if it cost less you still gotta check her out. If it’s that bad to be totally repainted it should have been noticeable.

I tell ya what... How about just let us know when Toyota offers you a resolution? That’s gonna be a good starting point. Either way it sounds like you have to go the Toyota route to start with no matter what. Let us know what options they give you and take the case from there. If they screw you over call corporate and get this thing into some more capable hands. They won’t leave you hanging if you go with the correct avenue of approach and still aren’t happy.

I got ya. Well no offense but most of us here are what we call in the Army “shithouse lawyers” meaning we can only speculate. I am a firm believer in contacting corporate.

I had a similar issue with my leaking rear differential but with a dealer that didn’t want to fix it for the second time. I called corporate and put a stop to that within no time.

If your dealer is trying to F you corporate will help. If they don’t, then I would really get serious about it. I wish you the best dude. I hate that you have to deal with this, but car buying can’t be a bitch sometimes.

Just stick to your guns and make your dealer know you aren’t willing to just suck it up and it must be addressed properly.

as for you original question about lemon law, the simple answer is NO. for reasons already been stated.

with that said, I have personally seen a few cases at my local dealer where they replaced at least 3 brand new trucks because of what you are describing. but, those trucks were driven less than a couple hundred miles and brought back within a couple days of taking delivery. it took some "negotiating" on the buyer's part to get the dealership to agree to swap them but it did happen. so, if you want another truck, that will 100% depend on how willing your dealer is to work with you. but remember, keep your cool. if you fly off the handle and get aggressive, they will most certainly tell you to kick rocks and take it to their body shop for a repaint. you have to know how to relax and be polite. as much as that might suck. you have to remember, that truck was on their lot and YOU signed the papers to accept it.

now, as for a complete repaint. the factory paint on most vehicles is garbage now days. Toyota is no different. if they wanted to repaint my truck as a way to make me happy, I would tell them my expectations, let them do their thing and then go over it with a fine tooth comb upon completion. but do not accept it back if it isn't 100% to your liking.

If you want to demonstrate diminished value, offer to trade it for the same truck on their lot and let them put on paper what the gap is. May force an interesting conversation.
