I'm amazed at the amount of departments that don't do roll call... Our guys don't get paid for it, but they always meet in the sergeants office with the prior shift to go over everything. Code 1 calls can wait, 2's and 3's get taken care of if they happen mid-roll call. I am a big supporter, as it is hugely conducive to teamwork.... We also only have 20 guys, and three on a shift minimum including the sergeant. I feel like a bigger department has ever more of a reason for it though... When you run 40-50 guys on a shift, everyone is overlapping and teams should be doing roll call to go over the nights concentrations and past incidents from the day/week. Maybe it's just me, but that's what I think.

You can when shifts overlap. Our midnights come in at 9pm and evening goes home @ 10pm. Then midnights goes home at 7am, and day shift starts at 630am. Not arguing about it, it's just something that's important to me that's all, it's cool if you guys don't agree, and just wanna live a life of solitary with the occasional meet up and calls together.

Probably some procedural thing. Protects PD and City. But damn glad you weren't in or beside it when it was hit.

    Nope

Legally speaking, non-exempt (hourly) employees must be paid for mandatory meetings...shift overlap has nothing to do with it

There are other ways of passing info etc besides having a mandatory squad meeting...email strings, intel site on the Internet, etc. our squad mtgs caused more inter squad problems than they promoted teamwork etc

Im more in the loop of what's going on now than I ever was when I had squad meetings every shift

I hear what your saying. There's guys on my rotation I rarely see- like 1-2x a year. We get all of our briefing from our office web site. You pull up your internet and it opens right to the page. It shows the crimes in your zone, sector. It lets you know about any major incidents that occurred and the players involved. You can also update it with info.
We work 12's, so no over lap. We have an evening shift, but at shift change for what ever reason, there are always calls pending.
    The age of being connected....

I like roll calls too. I think they work well. However, my dept along with many others see the financial bottom line. Sad state of affairs.

They are getting paid if they're already on the clock. Can't get OT, and be on your 40 double dipping... If lt says you will do roll call, at this time, and it's a time where you're already working, nothing the union can do for you, and lord have mercy on you if you don't show up.

The procedure doesn't say anything about whether a a deputy was operating his vehicle or not..just if any of the cars involved are disabled.

    Hell ya!

This is the best I could find at a LE price rate. And that's only 2 mags, but does have night sights.

Have you checked Sig's LE price chart? I think they have 239's in the $650 range. If that's still true, you're getting one hell of a deal.

I think I may just invest more of it into my truck...hard to justify a 3rd IWB weapon lol...

judging by gunbroker etc it's a decent deal, but to me not a MUST buy

I buy guns to either fill a void, or shoot and enjoy but will eventually be used as trade or resell fodder for another new gun

No offense, but I wouldn't touch a Sig nowadays, regardless of price. The quality fell, hard, somewhere around 06-07. So many agencies have dropped them as a duty weapon, most recently Mass State Police.

Not sure I agree with this. All the sigs I've ever fired have been probably the better quality guns, next to glocks. Knowing MSP, it was probably a political move to drop them....

I know you're from the land of Sigs up there in your relatively liberal free zone, but it's more than anecdotal. I myself carry Glock, am an armorer for Glock, and love the brand. I think if you do a google search you'll see what I'm saying.
