Lt1, i love my job pizzas or not. If that person is in trouble i will run to it, just to see the bad guy in jail.
My oldest sister is a firefighter Lt. And tells me all the time how many times people come up to her saying thank you and whatever. I just ask her when the last time she caught a carjacker in a high speed pursuit and the guy got 44 years in federal prison. Thats my pizza!!!

I know Aaron personally and he'd make a great Deputy, Officer, w/e he gets picked up as.

I credit u guys. I love the adrenaline rush, but couldn't deal with seeing a young child injured from some sloppy drunk....I'd be in the news for brutality the next morning.

Drunks causing accidents (especially when the victim(s) are the injured party
    Wife beaters
    Cop beaters/killers
    Child beaters
    Child molesters

....I could not control my anger with these idiots.

Be safe out there my friends. FWIW I always slow down when I see a traffic stop to ensure the officer appears to be okay.

Self control is the biggest thing an officer has to have, countered with assertiveness.

    Thanks!

Lol.. ya, firefighters def get all the glory.. but we don't need to get into that.. I do love getting people off the street that don't belong there. Especially since I live in one of my department's patrol cities.. I guess you just try to leave the city better off than how you found her right? :)

The pizza for firemen wasn't cool...public safety is public safety. Funny thing is, is when they need ur help to look for such and such, an escort, an shoulder to cry on, a person to hide behind u bet u r their man (or women)

    yup...

one of the many "perks" of the job.. which is why I wouldn't/couldn't do anything else..

Now lets not make this into a LEO glory thread or a "talk shit about firefighters" thread.. we know we can go all day about any of these things.. Anything else goin on with my brothers across the nation?? How 'bout that craze that's swept the nation about the "bath salt" drug? its crazy.. everyone is feeding off of it over here in socal.. one minute it's never heard of and the next its everywhere!

 Even if you don't get in, its an excellent experience to go through the process. You learn a lot!

Keep the Larimer County Sheriff guys in your thoughts and prayers as they try to outrun a fast moving fire and evac people. I don't have a lot of info yet but its a fairly large, super fast moving fire.

This is one of those situations where my wife hates my job.. hopefully no one gets hurt..

It definitely is a good learning experience.. though school is VERY important.. your bachelor's is nearly today's high school diploma. It costs a lot to get the bachelor's but if you don't have it, you're way behind. If you have it, it nearly doesn't mean anything.. they just want you to have it.. lame..

I'm about to finish my master's (finishing my senior project as we speak, damn TW keeps me away from it!). In my department the Master's is pretty much yesterday's bachelor's degree. The way it breaks down in my department is:

HS diploma: not even a question, you better have it
Bachelor's: if you have it you're ok (not ahead or behind), if you don't you're behind.
Master's: if you have it you're ahead, slightly.

^^^what do you do when you respond to this?? Um... freeze? do you have any ID on you??:notsure:

Yeah I just have my high school diploma, but I'm only 20. Went to college for an automotive program, which sucked. Lol now I'm just trying to figure out what to do.

22 square miles. Evac line is 8 miles west of my sisters house, and my friend Nikki has a horse rescue ranch just east of the evac line. Its moving fast and erratically. The Larimer County communications tower is in the middle of the fire, and is about to run out of battery power, thus cutting radio comms for the crews and sheriff...

Holy crap! all we can do is pray that they can control the fire and it doesn't kill anyone (if it hasn't already). Where's FEMA? This needs to get rolling now! If the governor hasn't already declared a state of emergency he needs to do so, that's the only way they can get federal help/funding.
