Lesson Learned

Just wanted to pass this along for those like me who didn't know. This weekend I installed intermittent wipers on my '14 and in the process learned that if you disconnect the battery the trip odometers are reset to zero.

 

not a bad learn learned...there was a bad one a few weeks ago where someone set off their side airbags to the tune of 6k.

normal on almost any car...I had a jeep that would show 74F (actually -25) in winter when I installed a new battery. You had to go more than 50mph for a few seconds to reset it, who knew

BTW don't have that problem now, since my 14 doesn't even have outside temp

 

I use a 9V computer memory keeper anytime i disconnect the battery. Handy little tool.

Pep Boys sells one of these things for $9, if nothing else it saves your radio stations.

 

The airbag story was exactly why I disconnected the battery, I sure didn't want to deal with that!

BTW, I was concerned about the radio presets but they were retained. It was less than half an hour, though, so that may be why.

Thanks for the link to the 9V memory saver. I remember hearing about those years ago; needless to say it's on my wish list now.

 

Not really important! Better then the problems you can have for leaving it connected. As for the radio I have nothing set cause I never listen to fm.

 

Memory saver looks handy, and airbag replacement sounds like a shitty mod day.
