But they are shallow mount right not reg subs with bigger basket? My JL's are reg subs with basket it's a tight squeeze but they fit. Never have heard the shallow mounts playing, just have heard that don't get that deep due to shallow and small coils. Also the crazy cost is always a factor shallows are almost always double the price of a comparison reg basket sub. Do yours bottom out before hit starts to get loud and deep. Not crazy shake the neighbors loud but clear and still hitting those deep notes road raging load.

Ah I see. Yeah with the shallow mount subs you’ll never get that deep bass like you would get from a w7 per say. These are the only shallow subs I’ve run and tbh I’m super happy with them. Mine don’t bottom out. My neighbors can hear me coming down the street with my windows open. My MPH gauge jumps when the subs hit and everyone who’s heard my setup is super impressed .

It looks like you have the same problem I have as to not being able to fully fold down the backseat. Ohh well I never did before the subs so I would guess I would never do it anyways. Besides toyotas idea of a quick fold down back seats is incredible crap. Take off headrests entirely, wtf. Is this a dodge in disguise.

I had a pair set up the same in one of my single cab work trucks I had been driving with jl 1000 hooked to them. Man, it did a lot more than rattle the mirror I can tell you that lol. They could go from “wow” to “stupid” with a few clicks of the volume + button. Lol, man I miss that box.

    I have 2 10” JLW3v3s in a sealed box wired down to 2ohms powered by a 600 JL amp.

it was a tight fit and had to use spacers because the speakers were thicker than the box was deep.

Ive had these subs for 9 years and love them. I dont really bump anymore but cant live without the range

How does this setup sound? Coming from a 2nd gen double cab with two 10s and finding out 1st gens have a hard time fitting subs behind the rear seats was a little sad. If any other 1st gen guys have any suggestions feel free to drop a link. Tried searching the forum but didn't come up with much

I looked at various single sub boxes and went with this since it will hold a 12 inch sub. I had to modify the seatback a bit and pound down the metal tie rods but it was easy and worked out just fine. A double sub would be nice but this gives me plenty of bump and I still have the OEM storage bin on the other side that I reinstalled. 79482BB9-1EB7-4BE2-BA39-832EDCF41D55.jpgA5D49D8D-8885-441F-90F6-D2AC7CF1477D.jpg

Replaced chrome badges with Sockmonkey black badges, painted billet grill black, K&N cold air intake, my corner light turn signal circuit, Speedfreek traction bars, RAAMaudio BXT/Ensolite, Stereo: Kenwood KIV-701 USB/Bluetooth deck, 10" Pioneer shallow sub behind the rear seat, Infinity 6822cf 6x8 front and rear doors, Fosgate P400-2 (sub), US Acoustics USX-4065 (four main speakers)
It sounds pretty good. That caraudiofactory box (it doesn't look like they sell it any more) is just at the minimum box volume for the 10" shallow Pioneer I used so you don't get the super low thumping bass without doing a little EQing. I add quite a bit of gain about 40Hz and it really brings it to life yet the Pioneer seems to handle the extra excursion of the boost fine. Looks like the supercrew sound box is still around https://www.supercrewsound.com/04tacomadbldual.html I had both and like the caraudiofactory box a bit more since it let me wedge a 10" in there (with a little internal trimming on the box) and leaves some room behind the seat for tie-down straps general storage.

Post a pic when that’s installed. That looks brain rattling! My wife would never go for that. I’m too damn old.

It will be a while yet. Gonna stain the box and then install subs. Just a pair of 10's. Sundown SD-4.

I wouldn't say brain rattling but they do get pretty loud for such small subs.

From my past experiences with subs and sub boxes all where made from MDF board because it was more porous so the sound waves wouldn't bounce so much. How is the solid wood working out for that, curious?

I've never heard that birch is way better soundwise, biggest advantage is lighter and you can make it look purty.
