Did you fiberglass an enclosure under the glovebox or something? I was considering this to fill my midbass, but went with JBL fuse pods under the seats instead.

Any Mods? One. Maybe two, tops...
I thought about fiberglass, but 13 ply Baltic Birch would be way stiffer and stronger IMHO, than anything I could have fabricated using fiberglass.

That's a slick set up right there. I'd consider adding a subwoofer with that set up.

I know you did this a while ago but I just did my morels up front running off an Audio Control L4.800. I was thinking of this sub box so I don’t have to remove the panels. What about it do you not like? I’m not looking for huge boomy bass

Thanks, i dont have a bass knob but i think the power im running will do well for it. If i recall, you have the 10" version, did you have to remove the compartment plastic or cut it?

Quick question for you guys - I have a single sealed 10 inch subwoofer behind my seat which happens to fit with the plastic seat back installed. Would removing the plastic even though it fits lead to an increase in SPL or create any noticeable effect on sound quality? Thanks!

You will notice a increase in road noise and probably loose some volume unless you sound deaden the ever-loving shit out of the back wall.

EDIT: are you talking about the back of the seat or the plastic on the back wall?
The back wall plastic removed will increase road noise, the seat back plastic will not do much other than make it harder to load things on top of the folded down seats.

not sure, I removed mine so I could add a grill to the sub....also gave me peace of mind the sub wasn't hitting the plastic...

The back of the seat, apologies! I was wondering if it could be deflecting any sound or just rattling but now I am wondering if it's even noticeable.

Got it, I appreciate the help! I've been trying to get more bass with my windows up. When they are rolled mostly down, I assume standing waves are eliminated and the bass seems to hit twice as strong. My dual 10 box will move my shirt with the windows down and is barely an improvement over stock with the windows up. Almost ready to pull the setup out. I've dealt with standing waves and cancellation in my other vehicles, but this truck has some of the worst acoustics for bass that I have ever seen.

TLDR; I feel like I wasted my money on this setup as having the windows down all of the time is 100% impractical and I get zero bass with the windows up.

Are you in a double cab? With two tens even if they don't have the greatest xmax or throw I would think you would have at least decent output with the windows up with that cone area. How many watts are you driving them with? Have you tried reversing the phase or checking to see if they are out of phase already?

I’ve stopped doing 2 subs and have been doing a single for years. You have to figure out how you want it. I don’t like booming bass but use it as the low end for drums and bass. I think I have my frequency set pretty low around 80 to 100 for my music.

But my aftermarket head unit has a subwoofer boost if I need to pump it up just a little.

It might seem unconventional but I have gotten way more solid, tighter bass by going lower with subwoofer low pass filters (40-65 HZ). One of the best sounding setups I have run I high passed my midbass at 63 HZ 24 db and the sub low pass at 50 HZ 18 dB. Subs never sounded or felt localized (always up front) and had enough overlap to blend with the mid. .

You are correct, it is a double cab. It’s two kicker comprt 10s being run off of a cxa 1200.1 (overkill, but it’s what I had laying around), tuned with an oscilloscope. I’ve pulled the box apart and checked phase twice, but haven’t tried reversing it at the amplifier. That’s a really good idea. I will check it out and see what happens! Thanks for the help!

Yeah, I’m thinking about getting the cheapo skar loaded enclosure and returning what I have now as I doubt there will be much of a difference. I believe doubling cone area will only yield a 3db bump in output, with zero cancellation occurring. Crossover set to 80hz and low pass filter is switched off completely.

I’m using that Skar enclosure with a 10” Rockford shallow sub 4 ohm powered using this amp . IMG_0636.png
