    So I do believe that I have in fact been getting some very slight ping at ~2500 rpm on the highway. So I’m getting the MotorVac Carbon cleaning done today...I’ll update on wether or not it helps at all.

    The reason you ping before boost with methanol is because the methanol allows the ecu to naturally run the timing more advanced due to the cooler intake charge. The knock sensors are not utilized until 3000+ rpms. That’s why most people with ping have it below 3000 rpm. Also, the timing map below 3k rpm is extrapolated from the 3k + rpm timing map. So since the methanol allows your ecu to run more advancing timing above 3k rpm, it makes the lower end map run more advanced as well, resulting in knock or ping. And the ecu cannot retard the timing for this to stop the ping because it has no idea it is happening since the knock sensors are not being used in that rpm range. This is when you need a timing calibrator to retard the timing in the areas it pings. I get some ping before boost as well below 3k rpms because my 7th injector has a similar cooling effect as the methanol (not quite to the extent of methanol though) which makes the ecu want to run more adnaced timing. I have to pull some timing in these areas with my piggyback ecu to eliminate the ping.

    My meth comes on at 3 pounds of boost, so no meth to confuse the ecu before boost.
    I had pinging in the same rpm range before methanol.
    I am probably going to get the URD piggyback to fix my timing.

    But Why is it that I have never had any issues of ping in that area 2500 rpm ever before methonal and
    After methanol even running a 2" pulley with 10 pounds of boost then? and I'm running at 6000 feet and Phessor is having ping issues at the same altitude with a smaller pulley???
    The only time I have ping issues was at high rpm after I got the 2" pulley and that's why I added the methonal kit

    The meth doesn’t have to come in before boost to confuse the ecu. What the meth does is causes the ecu to run more advanced timing because of its cooling affect. The meth reduces knock so the knock sensors allow the ecu to slowly advance the timing. This is above 3k rpm. Then the timing map the ecu uses below this (in the ping area) is more advanced as it extrapolates from the 3k + rpm map. This results in the ping. The stock ecu does not have enough timing retard built in for boost as is. So when you inject meth and it runs more advanced, then it really wants to ping in the problem areas (even before boost). This is why you get ping before boost. I read this in a tuning guide from Gadget(URD).

    This is the write up and has great information on how our trucks ecus work. In the ignition timing section it says “If you are using water injection, you may find that you will have to retard timing below 3000 RPM before the engine goes into boost. This is from the superior boost induced spark knock suppression in the upper RPM and is common.” I think this is what’s happening to you.

    All trucks are different. Some trucks run fine with the supercharger and nothing else. Some ping and lean out worse than others and require lots of tuning. Just depends on how the ecu has set it’s maps and the conditin of the engine.

    Anybody else have a hard time getting that bottom bolt on the TRD dynamic tensioner to sit all the way? It’s gets real hard to tighten and it’s not wanting to go anymore. I looked in the hole and it’s metallic on the end so I know there’s no crud In there.

    The tensioner has a tab on the back side if I remember that has to line up with the block or the bolt will not thread correctly. Make sure it's lined up, DONT cross thread it, try the bolt before you put the tensioner on and make sure the belts are
    pre lined up, I think a belt threads in there somewhere before you completely tight it down,
    Jiggle the tensioner as you bolt it down

    And make sure you have a GATES supercharger belt!!
    They last the longest and are much better than the trd belt

    I got it. I had to add a 10mm washer. But that bitch is still tight. I didn’t cross thread. It always stared easy and got super tight before bottoming out......I only have the Dayco belt now. I can get Gates belts at work. No problem.

    You might just have one of those ping happy engines,grrrr , maybe a piggy back will have to be the answer because of the ping below 3000 rpm, I don't understand how there are such HUGE differences in these engines from different people at the same Altitude

    TRD S/C, ADS coilovers.
    Well that answered one question. Cap the air box silencer....now I don’t have a fuel pressure regulator so I cap the small barb on the back? And there’s one more small hose coming up from the back that I have no idea what to do with.
