So I took the truck in for the usual oil change . I noticed my original sales rep and a bunch of other employees looking at it while it was there . I am in the process of selling it and was asking $35k obo . NADA and Kelley have the car listed for $30,000ish . After leaving the dealer , I get a call from my sales rep saying that they want to buy it back and will offer $29,500 for it . I was thinking about calling him back this afternoon and saying $500 more and you have a deal . What do you guys think ?

Keep in mind that the carfax shows a minor collision when a stupid 18 year old uninsured girl tapped the rear bumper and I had it replaced . No other damages or problems but it does come out on the report . I know that this would make a buyer take a step back .

I would ask for $1k more to see how much you can stretch how serious they are. Worst case scenario they'll meet you in the middle.

It's an offer. As in negotiation has opened.

Do they know you have it for sale? Do they know you have an OBO on it? (never do that if you don't really mean it)

Counter offer with a private party price, or a bit more. All they can do is say no.

I don't know what year it is, but I see it's SC'd in your profile. So I assume it's a '15 or older? Hopefully you're not ditching that for un boosted 3rd gen.

I would call back and ask for more than what they offered, the worst the could say is no.

It's been fun but need something a little more fuel friendly and family friendly .

sounds good......i'm going to call back this afternoon and try it .

Yes they know because I have for sale stickers on it .
The private party price on NADA or any other site is right at $30k so that's why I considered their offer .
It is a '15 and i'm actually buying a new Honda Accord Sport Special Edition .

Doing that later this afternoon .

I'm actually buying a new Honda Accord Sport Special Edition .

Is it the Honda dealer offering to buy the Toyota? If so I would go for it. 29500 is a solid price, but I bet you could get 30K or a touch more with some hustle.

If its the Toyota dealer who would buy it back and then you would have to go to the Honda dealership to buy the Honda, might change things as you wont be able to get the tax benefit come trade in time.

I'd try for more. I was able to get a hair over 29k for my 2015 TRD sport with a manual (which apparently lowers the price of the truck). If you're a supercharged pro, you should be able to squeeze 31k out of them.

Edit: I didnt realize you have a PRO with a supercharger. Thinking about it now. 29500 seems real low to me. 2nd gen pro with a supercharger, hard to find.

If you can get a private party value on a trade, you're doing pretty well. That's a great truck and a bummer that you need to let it go. Does the dealer know about the collision on the carfax? If not, I'm guessing that offer comes down when they run the report.

The dealership will turn around and probably list it for something like $39,999.00 so call them back and tell them you can't take less than $31k.

If they really want it, they'll counter and probably get you where you want to be.

If they walk away then they never really wanted it.

    This.

A stock TRD Pro would be on a dealer lot for 30-35k depending on miles and the SC kit sells for $5k.

A 2015 Supercharged Pro? I wouldn't take less than $32k from a dealer and $33k from private party. They're quoting you as a clean trade in without considering the $5k+ supercharger. I would expect to at least get half that blower cost back seeing as how sought after they are.

(I understand people shouldn't modify a car and expect to get any money back from it)

I'd hate to know how much you have invested in the truck for the model + charger only to sell it for under $30k.

It's the Toyota dealer that wants to buy it back .

For a private party , I was asking $35k obo so I was figuring on settling for around $32,500 and the lowest at $30k .

Problem is that "hard to find" is not meaning that people are flocking in line to buy it .

Dealer is aware of the collision because they are the ones that did the repairs .

I was thinking about going back at $32,500 and see what they say .

I agree but lots of people think adding a supercharger means you are going to run the hell out of it....which I never had the opportunity to .

I am going to try and get that price up from Toyota .
It was a pretty penny invested .

Have you advertised it here on TW? My buddy was trying to sell his locally and didn't get a bite, posted on here in the classifieds and sold it in a few days for his asking price. 29,500 is a low ball offer for a '15 Pro, they would put 36-37k on it and have it sold in a flash.
