Lets compare Apples and Oranges

Going to lift my 07 Double cab...clearly the attached estimate from Total Chaos and Bilstein 5100 with OME 885's in the front and a 1.5" block in the back (thanks justin21 for the info) are in completely different stratospheres. Money is a consideration here but not the end all, be all. For my needs this is a weekend driver as I have a company car. Moderate off roading so the Total Chaos is Total Overkill. But maybe you all can offer up a better in between option.

What say you?

 

Lose the diff drop, lose the blocks.
Get a progressive add a leaf.

Get 6112s and 5160?

Required tire size?

 

No required tire size, big enough to fill the wheel well, not so big they rub.
So the diff drop isn't a big deal?

the 6112/5160 combo looks nice. What kind of life can I expect to get out of stock UCA/LCA balljoints? Is there a good aftermarket option for "stock" UCA/LCA baljoints?

Its time for a balljoint job anyway.

 

On 2nd gens its pointless, rotates the front a hair.... does nothing in the end.

Why would you drop money on Kings but put a block in the rear? That doesn’t compute.

There is no reason to spend that much on struts when you don’t off road. I’m not sure why you would want to. You won’t gain anything by having them over another strut.
I’m sure their plush but... if you want plush don’t buy a truck

I say go much cheaper.

For that coin,you could leave the truck stock and buy a nice dirt bike.

 

My dif drop actually helped with the CV angles when I installed 6112 s . It only lowers the dif a quarter inch . But definitely lose the blocks !

That’s a lot of coin . My lift and wheels and tires and install labor was less . 6112s. ,TC upper control arms ,Toytec dif drop ,Stainless steel extended brake lines front and rear ,Wheelers 2” AAL, Bilstein 5125s for 2-3” lift , 4 American Racing Baja rims 17” and 4 Wildpeaks 285/70 !

 

Thats the 1st time i heard that on a 2nd gen.

That's alot of money to drop into a truck that is 11 years old, but to each their own.

 

Well I had 5100s set at 1.75 for around 6 years with no DD . Boots torn all the time and you could just see the angle was bad on CVs . Now 6112s at top clip with the DD and the angle is almost straight . You know the boot fins are not touching each other . And not a torn boot yet , knock on wood

 

From headstrong off road I paid $1870 and that included:

Ome nitro shocks on 885 coils (ASSEMBLED with trim packer for taco lean)
Full Dakar leaf pack and nitro shocks in the back
Carrier bearing drop (which has since been removed)
Axle shims
SPC Uca’s
Sway bar relocation brackets

I also bought new wheels and tires for $1854 from discount tire, 285/75r16 K02’s and 16x8 method NV’s.

Total price for lift/wheels/tires/installation/alignment was right at $3800.

$5700 is outrageous.

I daily my truck about 100 miles round trip, take it hunting and wheeling on the weekend, pull a trailer occasionally, and take it from Tucson to San Antonio a couple times a year. Haven’t had a single mishap with the setup mentioned above. Took 3.5 hours to install with me, an extra set of hands, beer, and power tools. As for the rubbing issue just throw some 265/75r16’s on there and call it a day.

 

You had to extend your brake likes for under 3"?

 

More droop , more line . Better safe than sorry ! I’m actually closer to 3+ of lift from stock .

 

I agree that's a load of cash for what I'd get, for that kind of investment I'd build something much more capable. Your set up sounds like a good one too.
