Coilovers on a daily driver won't make it any smoother will they? I've heard by many people they'll make your ride stiffer on the road unless you get custom valves coilovers?

Icon ext. travel 2.5RR in front, Icon ext. travel 2.0RR in rear, BuiltRight uniball UCAs, Wheelers Superbumps, Goodridge steel braided brake lines, BruteForce front plate bumper w/ Warn M9000+synth line, American Auto Horns ACDF, Pelfrey Bussman mount+Sandman bussman fuse block (soon), 255/75R16s on painted stockers...because I'm not paying $800 to rock rash new wheels you scrubs. Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
Depends what your daily driving is. My commute is mostly highway so Icon's digressive valving works well for me. If you're mostly city/slower then a progressive valved coilover may be the better option. Preload also comes into play.

Of course everyone's opinion on what rides well is also vastly different.

like ^ said depends on preload. it feels more stable to me. i wouldnt say its much stiffer but it handles bumps on the road much better then before. it was a little stiff until i lowered for a better ride. its also nice to have the adjustability. very easy to install as well

Thanks fellas I was going to go that route but I had lots of people here and in shops say that the ride is stiffer on pavement but thanks for the help I'm replacing my rear shocks in a week or so and my fronts not to long after that hopefully so I have to make up my mind soon haha

They do nothing on their own. You can customize the valving and find a sweet spot, but they're not a magic bean for instant ride quality.

The trucks I've ridden in with coilovers that aren't customized and are out of the box setup by the manufacturer have been much stiffer than my truck and would make me hate my daily commute.

The positive is that they can be tuned specifically to your truck and your ass, but out of the box? Stiff IMO, and stiffer when you have too much preload.

I have the TRD Sport. When hitting bumps in the road like where the road meets a bridge, my taco seems to bounce around especially if I hit it at a slight angle it feels like the whole truck shifts sideways abit.

It's all stock, except poly front radiator supports and has a ARE tonneau lockable cover. So it does have some additional weight in the rear. 33k on stock 17" tires/rims. Rides smooth as jelly otherwise.

Would billy's 5100 help improve this? I'm not looking to lift, although be nice to have the option in the future way down the road. Still under warranty for a quite some time and I hear/read about horror stories of problems after lift that I don't want to mess with.

Any other suggestions or is this the norm?

On a stock height truck you wouldn't gain anything, unless you would benefit from new shocks in the first place.

My 2006 TRD Sport has Toytec Ultimates set at 2" and 5100s in the rear supplemented by Airlift airbags with 4-runner rims wrapped in 275/70-17 Cooper AT3s. My new-to-me 2013 TRD Sport with stock suspension and the same tire/wheel combo rides MUCH better. I'm at a loss as to what to do to the new sled. I want a 1.5-2" of lift, but for the 95% of the time I'm on the pavement, I want something that's more plush than off-road capable. Thinking Fox 2.0s, but I'm pissed they dicked around with the adjustment collar and made it basically non-user friendly.
