They do make a custom harness for $1400. That was my big concern but according to my guy its no biggie. I am with you its not an easy process but having a garage that has experience is the way to go. That and its not an overnight process.

Dang that's a ton of responses, and I'm not going to try to quote them all, thanks for interacting though!

First off, this is a 3rd gen, and others with 3rd gens will probably want to see it one day when I'm building parts for these to swap motors.

Secondly, I do motorsports harnessing, tuning, and design work professionally. I am probably going to be running a Motec computer and display. If I have to I will separate all of the body control stuff, and probably will disable airbags all together anyways. THIS WILL BE A TOY!!!! I understand the undertaking that it is.

Also, yes, I do want the ford 10 speed transmission. Have you driven a new F150 with one? they rip, and always keep you perfectly in your torque band, just what you want for going fast and quick acceleration.

Yes it will be a ton of work, but I will also document it all and will most definatly offer the Fab parts premade to the

Finally, just because the number of motor swaps happening isn't overwhelming doesn't mean that it isn't happening, and it absolutely does not mean that it shouldn't happen. Yes, I only know a handful of guys doing motor swaps on 3rd gens, but I have seen probably a hundred motor swaps in my time of racing and offroading. It is very common for those deep into the car community. Also, someone mentioned a HEMI swap jeep? We did one at one of my old shops... it was sweet.

Thanks for everyone who is still like "F*** it, lets see it happen" Thats what I like to hear haha

Oh nice, I have built a few of those units actually, we ran one in my old boss's dodge Dakota with one hell of a blown Pontiac 400 haha. Our mud trucks always ran C6s though, the only problem we had was shearing bell housings, we ended up midplating them all and solid mounting the transmission at the mounts.

I'd love to see the 3.0 Duramax from my dad's Sierra 1500 in this truck. That amount of tq/hp and smoothness in this truck would be amazing.

That's the cheapest one! Some are over $50k and 2000HP.

Have you looked at the cummins r2.8? comes with harness, ecm, and everything. You just need to get a transmission adapter plate and motor mounts.

Amen. I say go for it! I'm here to see what happens. Yes, there will be challenges but that's what makes it interesting! Plus, you're paving the road for someone else if they want to do it!

I actually did. I feel it's a bit underpowered for the 3rd gen tho. Maybe with a few mods tho. I do love that baby D-max in the 1500, somedays i regret not getting one.
