I'm guessing it's just a teeeeeeny bit too late to redesign the engine for 2012.

Can we petition Toyota to not make Tacoma a poser truck even more is right now. Toyota should get back to roots and bring what made small Toyota pickups great. Functionality over convenience. Those that want car like feel please buy Camry, Sienna or whatever other car like vehicle
    :D

I'd rather see the V8 or a diesel. I don't think either will happen though and you're a bit late on your petition for the 2012's. Maybe for the 2013's but they're not going to stop production because of a petition on facebook... I know some people think facebook rules the world but it does not. Get over it :D

My thoughts exactly..... I don;t understand who people choose to buy a truck...buy "must have" V6's w/ 4WDs and then post threads wishing for V8s and continue to whine over 18 MPG .......

I am more concerned with the body style than the engine. I hated the redone 4 bigger boxy 3rd gen 4 Runner. If they make this thing look like a Frontier, I will likely be glad to have one of the "old ones" With 27K I think I will get through a few redesigns safely if they shoebox the thing.

Funny Ford is taking the boxy Escape and for 2012 making it more RAV 4 like....While Toyota becomes more Ford like.

From another thread (search function does work!):
My gf has a 2010 FJ. I was trying to be the handy boyfriend and offered to change her oil, thinking I could save her money from taking it to a dealership.

1st thing is that it requires 0w-20, that is $7/quart x6

2nd thing I found out was that it has a f#$%#cartridge filter behind the damn skid plate AND Toyota has a special tool made just to remove the housing. I had to take a hammer and punch to take it off. (don't tell her that though). The filter was like $10 too.

So long story short, it was a 2 hour $52 oil change. I told her to take it to the stealership next time, they only charged $45.

This sounds like a completely ridiculous set-up... I'll keep my VVT engine with spin on filter.

So - my taco is so new, I haven't even gotten to the first oil change yet.

What does this mean to me? Never had a car/truck with one of those before.
