So many trails have this "look". The first one that came to mind is the initial portion of Red Cone, so I'll make that guess to bump the thread.

Is that the Ironclads area? Aka the shooting range where everyone leaves their exploded clays and shells everywhere along with trash and other stuff?

It looks like 217.1 A.... or more likely, further up/out on 216.1.

This should be super easy, though. I have a few more that will make it super obvious

 

Yeah, one year I was out there, I was too early and Mosquito was still snowbound. I explored a bunch of side trials, but that one was just off the main trail, if you were coming from Leadville it would be on your left, where a shaft was sunk straight down into the ground with a bunch of weird tresses and pulleys and piles of slag or whatever. It wasn't as fun as the main trail, obviously, but exploring that area salvaged the day.

 

Just a random guess, but right below the closed needle eye tunnel above Moffat Tunnel?

 

Yep! Rollins Pass East.

Nice. I haven't been up there yet but have been stalking photos o the trestles and such and planning on doing a mountain bike trip: Denver Union Station > Winter Park via Amtrak, then ride up and over and down to Boulder in 2 days.

 

I drove to the end, then hiked to the tunnel last year. While I was hiking up, I could see several folks coming from the other side of the mountain. They shouldered their bikes to get to the other side, then rode down. I was impressed.
