Not sure how much of a "wheeling" location this is, but I was exploring and normal cars wouldn't make it out here without ripping off their plastic bumper and underskirts...

Hint: As I just did some research on this, it's another situation of people buying up tiny plots of land to block right-of-way access to public lands. Son of a . :smash:

is that legal? In theory I could put plots surrounding a public park and close all access to that park?

I don't believe it's legal to block access to public land, on an existing road, assuming there's no other way to go there.

I have seen, however, property owners who make it seem like you can't pass through their land, but if you stay on the road, there's no issue.

I cut down an illegal fence, after checking with the FS land management officer (or whatever they're called), and left the manager's phone number on the back of the illegal "private property" signs attached to the fence. It was an FSR that passed through a mine property which was privately owned. Clearly the owner didn't care for folks passing through.

This is a metal gate with several locks on it like other public land gates I have seen that are legit. What makes me lean towards the situation I mentioned is that in official public documents it states "Resolve right-of-way issues along _______ ______ ______".

Once y'all guess where it is, we can look at the map and see how they are blocking access to public land where it is the only legal way through without driving across a sensitive watershed or meadows or such.

Some geologically natural features called Iron Fens that only 8 are in Colorado and found nowhere else in the world.

I checked on TrailsOffroad, and it appears the gate was closed in July of last year due to avalanche debris. It opened up sometime after that. So, sounds like it's a FS gate.
