You're an incredibly talented wood worker, and very creative with the space, but the bare wood just looks ghetto. Have you thought about carpeting it like a box or something?

Thanks! Just one question, how did you attach the wood, is it screwed through the plastic from the back or glued in place?

Yanked out the plastic inserts behind the rear seats in order to remove the cast in shelf so that I can fit a tool box back there

Update on my rear seat cubby storage solution

    Started with this

Milled the upper piece , added a 5/16" stainless through bolt to register the axe handle

Milled the lower piece , it needed to be rabbetted to span over the shelf support remnants

I fixed these pieces through the back of the cubby inserts with #8 x 3/4" screws and fender washers

I put the screws where I could cover them back up with the backing insulation so that they wouldn't rattle against the mounting surfaces

    That left me with this

I built a toolbox that would fit the countour of the storage area under the axe

    Lid :

    Case :

    Tool box :

Axe and tool box locations :

Still waiting on Quickfists for the final axe mounts and an ARB Compact Recovery bag that fits to the left of the tool box

    Test fit

    All back together

    Got my Quickfists

Added one Quickfist to my axe set up

nice process OZ, quick question tho, do you just have the tools in the toolbox (like thrown in) or are they organized (like a craftsman toolbox)?

Very nice, OZ! +1 for the write up, I might give that a shot when it warms up. I didn't realize the box was wood also, I thought it was painted metal when I first saw it. I've got 2 Quikfist clams holding an ax in the bed of my truck but would much rather have it in the cab. Thanks again for the info!

I suppose ghetto might not be the appropriate word as there's nothing ghetto about the precision in which you made that. Like I said, it's a beautiful piece and you're incredibly talented. I apologize if I offended you.

I just think the bare wood looks out of place in a vehicle that was made within the last 50 years.

Haha , no worries , not offended

I considered painting it black but felt it would scuff off too easily

The hooks in the second slot are for child seats. It's the safety hooks that are required these days for the seats LATCH in the US.

Yes I have kids and used them for both kids. :D

Go with the organizer for the center console from salex on this forum. And while you are at it, get the glovebox organizer as well. They are great.
