I sewed Nutmeg a cheetah print cape to cover her bare ass so her feathers can grow back without the others plucking them out constantly. I think she digs it, honestly. Shes been strutting around and isnt being sunburned and plucked nonstop anymore.

Just got chickens this year. We got 6, one died 24 hours later and one was a rooster so we gave him to a friend that didn't live in town. We got 10 more to split between some co-workers that needed some more hens and didn't want to buy the minimum 6, so we will end up with 7-8 now. ISA browns, Rhode island red (only 1, we had 3 to start), and wynadottes.
This weekend will likely be installing the new auto opening door, and getting the run set up and secured. Right now the older ones are just chilling in half the run and the little ones are still in a brooder.
I also still need to keep working with my dogs. One couldn't care we got chickens and the other is way too excited and has an agressive streak that needs to get more training before she can be around them on her own.

Very stylish! (Actually blends in pretty well) great work! One of ours is starting to show signs of being plucked. Might need to look into this as an option.
Also, recently had to build a “chicken jail” to isolate one of our brooding ladies. She wasn’t a fan of it, but it worked!

Ive been calling her Showgirl. My husband picked the print, he was like “it has to be stylish, cant have the others making fun of her”
Heres a link to make a saddle, literally only took me maybe 10 mins and has a print out template.

Looks like a Rhode Island Red. We have three. More social than the rest, one won’t stay in the run. Last weekend she came up and helped me with my oil change lol

    Old thread, new post.
We have 6 hens and a rooster.
He is actually pretty friendly and even comes over to be pet. We hand raised them all and they have an acre of land to free roam. Great eggs.
